Romeo awoke the next morning groggily, he hadn't slept well because of the injury left on his face. The side of his cheek it was on was the side he slept on, he struggled to sleep in any other position.
Sitting up Romeo noticed blood stains on his white pillow, great. That'd be fun to explain to the owners of the cabin. Maybe he could say it was just a nosebleed or something.
Deciding he might as well just start the day rather than attempting to get more sleep Romeo got out of bed, he didn't bother getting changed and instead strolled to the bathroom. Once inside he gazed into the mirror again. His own tired reflection stared back him. He was clad in only a pair of tight fitting orange boxers so would've look quite good if it weren't for the massive bruise on his face. His figure was in great shape at the moment, it was just that unsightly blue mark covering part of his cheek.
"Fucksake" he mumbled reaching for the concealer to try and cover up the bruise a bit before going outside. He stroked the brush gently over his face trying to be as soft as possible as to not irritate the wound. Eventually it was all covered up and looked normal enough.
Romeo headed out of the bathroom stopping by at the fridge to pick up another beer before heading into the porch, he didn't bother getting changed because frankly if he was swimming around in just swimming trunks having a tiny bit more of his legs exposed wasn't going to change much of what any passing people would see.
Sitting on one of the plastic mesh chairs Romeo glanced out at the lake taking in the view. The sun was once again shining down making the lake sparkle magically.
The birds were chirping their little songs quietly in the background as the sound of running water relaxed Romeos mind. He leaned back taking a sip of his beer and closing his eyes.
As quickly as the moment had started it was ruined, by the sound he'd grown to resent in his short time being here. That stupid dog barking from next door. Opening his eyes Romeo glanced over at the cabin. He spotted the boy and dog walking along the riverbank. The boy had the dog on lead and looked very wide awake for this early in the morning.
As he got closer the dog continued to bark splashing around in the water having the time of it's life. Whilst it was an incredibly cute dog it was also an extremely annoying and loud one as well. Romeo had come here for peace and quiet, not even more noise than he already had with his parents.
"Could you tell your dog to shut up?" Romeo called over to the boy rudely.
"Sorry, she's just really excitable today" The boy answered softly before hurrying along. Romeo watched him disappear into the woods with a heavy sigh.
He continued to sit outside enjoying the sunlight on his bare body. He was hoping he'd be able to go home with at least a nicely tinged tan. It'd be a nice memento to have as a temporary reminder of this holiday rather than the usual bruises of his home life.
Before he got too comfortable the barking started again, the boy must be on his way back now. Soon he appeared from around the corner watching his dog fondly.
"Does she ever shut up?" Romeo called out again. Glancing up at him for the first time the boys eyes widened as he froze in place. His sapphire blue gaze traveled up and down Romeo's body a blush forming on his face.
"Sorry" He stuttered again. "I- I'm Gabriel by the way, Gabriel Summers" He introduced himself sweetly but his eyes were still fixated on Romeo's body.
"Romeo Swift" Romeo supplied back, he didn't need to know the boys last name but gave his own trying not to be awkward.
Gabriel was looking extremely flustered now. Romeo was almost amused as he retained eye contact with the boy, Gabriel's eyes were actually really pretty. They were a lovely shade of blue and so big. His eyelashes also complimented them nicely.
The dog then began jumping up and down barking at Gabriel as he tried to shush it whilst also stealing glances at Romeo.
"Stuff a sock in its mouth or something, my god" Romeo complained impatiently putting a hand on his head in frustration.
"Sorry" Gabriel repeated timidly as he pulled at the dogs leash trying to calm her down with no luck.
Now he was back to just being stood on the spot staring at Romeo whilst the dog continued barking. He must be gay, he clearly liked what he saw, Romeo was gay too, but wasn't interested in finding love. Especially not with someone like Gabriel.
"Okay, for the love of god get it to shut up!" Romeo told him sternly, scowling at the boy. "And stop staring at me!" He added.
"Sorry" Gabriel apologised for the millionth time crouching down to try shush the dog again, yet somehow still managing to stare at Romeo.
"I said quit staring! You've seen me in swimming trunks before, boxers are basically the same thing" Romeo hissed in irritation, he was definitely glad he'd put concealer on now. Having every feature of his body observed like this was almost making him uncomfortable.
Looking down at himself he could kind of tell why Gabriel was so transfixed. Not to sound like a self loving narcissist, but he did look good, and the tight boxers he was wearing definitely left less to the imagination than the baggy swimming trunks. In fact they left very little to the imagination at all.
"O-Okay, sorry again. See you around" Gabriel replied his voice as soft as velvet as he began rushing towards his cabin clearly embarrassed at being caught admiring Romeo. Hopefully they wouldn't see each other around much more than they already had.
Romeo leant back in his seat taking another sip of the icy beer, the dog was still barking loudly but it was further away now and not deafeningly close. So that was at least a bit better.
Closing his eyes again Romeo began to feel himself drifting off to sleep. It felt nice napping out here in the sunshine with the sounds of the lapping water surrounding him. He'd probably keep doing it if his parents were so insistent on passing out drunk for the entire morning.
