Romeo opened his can of beer with a fizz immediately taking a sip of it allowing the bitter tasting alcohol to course down his throat with a burning sensation, he glanced at Gabriel who was sat beside him looking hesitantly at his own can of beer.
After their date they'd parted ways then reconvened in the morning, Romeo had walked Bubbles with Gabriel then offered to go swimming again, the two had swum on the dazzling blue lake taking in the sun before going back to shore and lying on the soft, grassy bank. That's when Romeo had suggested having drinks.
"Do you need help opening it?" Romeo offered glancing at his boyfriend quietly.
Gabriel shook his head. "I've just- never drunk before, I'm nervous" He replied sheepishly.
In response to this Romeo shuffled closer to the brunette putting an arm around his damp, skinny frame. "There's a first time for everything. Better to try it now with me where you're safe, right?" Romeo pointed out lightly. He really wanted Gabriel to at least give it a go and maybe be able to let loose a bit.
"I suppose yeah" Gabriel nodded opening the can but still hesitating.
"If you don't want too, you don't have too Gabe" Romeo reassured him, he felt weird being soft like this. If this was any of his 'friends' he'd have likely pressured them into it using various demeaning tactics. Yet with Gabriel he wasn't doing this for his own amusement, he just wanted Gabriel to step out of his comfort zone a bit and give it a go.
"What- what if I hate it?" Gabriel questioned smiling sweetly at the shortening of his name from Romeo, Romeo wasn't quite ready to call him things like "love" or "darling" yet so was content to just making cute little pet names out of his already existing name.
"Then you never have to drink it again" Romeo promised. "This is all up to you" He knew what it was like being forced into drinking something, his dad had made him try beer from a young age and practically forced it down his throat. That wasn't how he wanted Gabriel's first experience to be.
"Isn't this illegal?" Gabriel questioned shuffling uncomfortably.
"Oh 100%" Romeo answered with a smirk taking another sip of his beer.
"I don't know" Gabriel said quietly lifting the can to his lips.
"I won't call the cops on you" Romeo joked earning a sing song giggle from Gabriel.
"You're s-such a softie under that tough shell, you know that?" Gabriel muttered going red as he spoke.
"I can be more tough if you'd like?" Romeo whispered seductively leaning into the crook of Gabriel's neck. Gabriel giggled again pushing Romeo away lightly.
"If I get drunk, it's your fault" He stated.
"You won't get drunk from 1 can" Romeo told him logically.
Taking a deep breath Gabriel took a sip of the beer. Immediately his face screwed up as he swallowed it.
"That was- was disgusting" He explained coughing a couple times. "But I- I want more" He added taking another sip.
"And there goes your innocence" Romeo mumbled sarcastically making Gabriel laugh again. Romeo could swear him just breathing would make the brunette laugh, not that Romeo minded. Gabriel's shy, sing song laugh was like sweet melodies to his ears.
The two then cuddled up close finishing their beers relatively quickly and watching the sun stretch it's golden rays over the sparkling body of water ahead of them.
"I could stay here forever" Gabriel whispered timidly, his soft blue eyes glancing up at Romeo.
"I couldn't, it'd be boring" Romeo countered meeting Gabriel's gaze and cupping the boys small face in his hands.
