Romeo opened his eyes in surprise feeing a soft breeze blowing into his face sending his hair wildly around on his head. It was dark outside now, he must've dozed off. Quickly scrambling to his feet Romeo made his way back to the cabin, at least with it being dark out his asshole parents might be asleep.
As Romeo stepped into the cabin he was proven wrong, both his parents were in the living room sat lazily on the couches with beer cans.
Trying his best to ignore them Romeo took his shoes off starting to walk past the pair, but his dad stopped him.
"Romeo get me another beer whilst you're on your feet!" He ordered sharply sending a scowl at his son. This annoyed Romeo, he'd just got back inside. He wasn't their slave.
He lashed out knocking the empty beer can out of his dads hand making the man's eyes widen in surprise. "Get it yourself" Romeo gruffly answered.
Mr Swift stood up eyeing Romeo threateningly, on second thought it'd probably have been easier to just go and get the beer.
"You think you can just waltz in here and speak to me like that, child?" Mr Swift snarled.
"He thinks he rules the roost" Mrs Swift commented taking a sip of her beer and not even glancing up at her husband or son.
"I'm your son. Not a servant" Romeo replied standing his ground refusing to be intimidated. He'd started this, he might as well see it through.
"I own you!" Mr Swift spat grabbing Romeo by the neck and pulling him forward reeling the blonde in like a fish on a rod.
"No one owns me!" Romeo insisted staring into his dads fiery eyes with hostility brewing in his own.
Mr Swift grunted at this instantly throwing a punch at his son, Romeo fell like clockwork tumbling to the ground and clutching his chest in pain. He shut his eyes accepting his fate as Mr Swift landed more punches on his sons already battered body.
Romeo lay on the floor for a good 10 minutes being continuously beaten by the older man until he'd gotten bored. After that Romeo remained still on the floor hearing his dads footsteps cross over to the kitchen, the fridge open. The clink and fizz of a beer can. Then footfalls returning to the couch and Mr Swift heavily sitting down.
Groaning in pain Romeo tried to stand up but struggled, his chest was hurting a lot.
"Can you be quiet Romeo. I'm trying to listen to the tv!" Mrs Swift yelled making a lot more noise than Romeo had.
Stumbling into his room Romeo slammed the door shut instantly going to the place he knew would bring him solace.
Opening the red box Romeo pulled one of the metal objects out immediately lining it up with his wrist and not thinking twice before making a cut, he repeated again wincing in pain as the blade dug deep into his wrist. Once he'd finished Romeo gazed at his bloody wrist now littered with fresh red lines. It hadn't even helped, he still felt like shit.
Running a hand through his hair in irritation Romeo rushed to the bathroom shielding his gory arm from his parents view as he walked past them, as soon as he got into the bathroom he whipped out the concealer. Then he turned the tap on running his wrist methodically through the stream of water. The sink was glistening like a ruby by the time he'd finished and the cuts had eventually stopped bleeding.
Taking a deep breath Romeo began the painful process of covering them with his concealer. This was basically another form of self harm in itself. First the cutting, then the rubbing of most likely harmful ointment into the cuts. He planned on going out that night, getting wasted and absolutely railing some random guy. So he needed to not have cuts crisscrossing his arms, he didn't want a repeat of the other night with that judgmental prick.
