Romeo awoke suddenly to a sound he wasn't expecting to hear. Normally when he woke up he'd be alone, cold and have one of his parents shouting at him or even sometimes hitting him. This time however he'd woken up feeling warm, comforted but quite sleepy. Despite this it was still relatively dark outside. The sound that had disturbed his tranquil slumber was whimpering. Gabriel whimpering, not in a sexual way either. He sounded sad and scared.

Sitting up in bed Romeo flicked on the lamp his bare back pressing against the ice cold wall behind them, as soon as the dark room was flooded with light Romeo could see exactly what was happening.

Gabriel's soft blue eyes were wide with terror, his face was damp and tear streaked, his hair was dishevelled the brunette locks sticking up in almost every direction, sweat was running down his forehead and he was breathing fast. Gabriel must've had some kind of nightmare.

"Gabe?" Romeo whispered stonily trying to blink the sleep out of his eyes.

"S-sorry" Gabriel stuttered back sniffling as tears continued to make their way down his pale cheeks.

"Why are you crying?" Romeo questioned evenly. He was never the comforting type in these situations. His approach was more of a logical one. This hadn't been very helpful at school nor at home when his parents were having drunk tantrums.

"It's fine, go- go back to sleep, Sorry I-I woke you" Gabriel apologised again reaching up and wiping his tear stained face.

"Stop saying sorry it's pissing me off, you literally don't have anything to be sorry for" Romeo answered trying to sound soft so Gabriel knew he wasn't actually mad. Gabriel smiled sweetly nodding his head but his eyes betrayed how scared he was.

"Did you have a nightmare?" Romeo prompted impatiently. This made Gabriel's soft blue eyes lower to his lap in shame.

"I- I- yeah..." he admitted looking extremely embarrassed and ashamed of himself.

"You want to... I don't know, talk about it?" Romeo wondered, uncertainly wrapping an arm around Gabriel protectively. He could stop people hurting his boyfriend in the real world, but in Gabriel's darkest thoughts and dreams he wasn't there to protect him.

"It's stupid really... I- I dreamt you were only dating me to kill me, then you- you took me to the woods and stabbed me until I passed out and then I woke up" Gabriel explained shyly.

Romeo smirked slightly squeezing his boyfriends shoulder. "That is kind of stupid" He murmured.

"I know- I just-" Gabriel started but Romeo cut him off.

"If I was going to kill you I'd shoot you to start with, then I also wouldn't have made myself known to your family which I am, and I also wouldn't waste my time with semantics like becoming your boyfriend. I'm a million times stronger than you so I'd just bring you to a car by force the first chance I got you alone, which is quite often considering you sketch alone in the woods all the time" Romeo joked trying to lighten the mood since he couldn't really comfort the blonde any other way.

"Oh- Sounds like- like y-you've thought about this a lot" Gabriel noted a small smile flickering onto his face.

"Only a little bit" Romeo answered calmly, ruffling up Gabriel's brown locks with his hand making the brunette shy away playfully batting back at Romeo, However as he did he froze in place his eyes following Romeo's movements a horror stricken look shadowing his face.

Unaware of this shift Romeo glanced out of the window, the lake was reflecting in the moonlight and looked really pretty. If they weren't in such a secluded spot he'd have been tempted to go for a stroll and take in the night air. Maybe even have a swim.
