Bit nervy

I've had an entire makeup team for my face

And hair

And styling

I feel like Katniss in the hunger games

Not sure that's a realistic comparison but valid

I put my phone down, looking in the mirror, feeling a little unrecognisable. I always did my own makeup, and I always had my own style, and this was different.

Today was the first in person interview for my album promotion, after three consecutive radio shows already.

The album had been received very well, and as updated by my management (and Sam), critics had rated it highly.

So far I'd been able to divert questions about the meaning behind some of the songs, but considering todays interview was fan led, by people who had been watching me for a long time, it felt like that was going to be trickier to accomplish.

I walked into the room, noticing two girls sat on the sofa to the right. Straight away, their faces lit up as I walked in, and I couldn't help but smile back at how cute they both were.

"Hi!" I say brightly, walking over to them, leaning down to give them both a hug. "What are your names?"

"I'm Lily," the girl on the right said, and then she pointed to the girl on the left, who introduced herself as Ana.

"I'm so happy I get to meet you both!" I say truthfully, sitting down on the sofa across from them.

"We're so happy to be here...we've been watching you since twenty thirteen," Lily explains, which would've been right after my mum passed away.

"Are you two friends?" I ask, noticing the way they seemed so comfortable around each other.

"Yeah," Ana answered for them both. "We actually met online because we both had fan pages for you...but we've met like - six times, now?"

Her answer actually made me want to melt. "Oh my god, that's fucking - oops, sorry, I mean that's insane," I answer, looking over to the camera and apologising for swearing.

We chat informally for a little bit, before the person in charge of the interview finishes setting up the lighting, and signals that we're ready to go.

"Hi! I'm Lily," she starts.

"And I'm Ana, and we're interviewing Kenzie Croft on the release of her new album, Whispers," Ana introduces, and I give a little wave as directed.

"So, first question - what inspired you to make music?" Lily asks, reading from a flashcard.

I smiled at the question. It was a standard question, and one I had prepared for. "I've always liked to sing - I didn't think I was any good of it, but there is a video of me as a child singing Spice Girls into a hairbrush...but actually inspiring me to make music, it would have to come down to two things. One, the video I made with the Sidemen where I sang in front of a camera. That kind of kickstarted it all, but on a more personal level, it would have to be my best friend, Faith. That girl pretty much dragged me to the studio, and it was her effort that inspired me to write my first song," I answer.
