"Toshiko cut off the power in the base!" Jack ordered over the comms.
Nightingale stopped pacing and moved to Toshiko's computer to see what was happening.
"If I do that, the base goes into lockdown. We'll be trapped!" Toshiko exclaimed.
"Just do it!" Jack shouted.
Tosh hurried to the main power switch and flipped it.
Nightingale looked up worriedly when the lights turned off, minus everything under emergency power, giving the room a blue glow.
"Tosh! Get everything from the weapons room. Fast as you can!" Jack ordered as he entered the hub.
Nightingale became more worried by the unconscious Owen on Jack's shoulder and the gun pointed at Ianto's head.
"It's locked down." Tosh argued, "There's no manual override,"
"Just open the store!" Jack shouted. He pushed Ianto. "On your knees. Hands above your head,"
"Jack? What are you doing?" Nightingale voiced.
"Nightingale, help Tosh!"
Nightingale bit her lip but turned to help with weapons.
"Did you know that thing was down there?"
"I put her there," Ianto admitted.
Nightingale turned around at that. "You hid a Cyberman within Torchwood and didn't tell us?"
"What else are you keeping from us?" Jack demanded.
"Like you care," Ianto spat. "I clear up your shit. No questions asked, and that's the way you like it. When did you last ask me anything about my life?"
Nightingale moves to Ianto, but Jack holds her back while keeping the gun aimed at Ianto.
"Her name's Lisa." Ianto explained, "She's my girlfriend,"
"Why didn't you tell us? We could have helped you," Nightingale reasoned.
"Torchwood exists to destroy alien threats. Why would I tell you about her?"
Nightingale bit her tongue from retorting, knowing Ianto only acted out in anger.
"A little loyalty, perhaps?" Owen groaned.
"My loyalty's to her," Ianto cried. "She worked for Torchwood. She was caught up in battle. I owe it to Lisa. We owe it to her to find a cure,"
"Ianto," Nightingale breathed, "you have to believe me. There is no cure. There never will be. Those who are converted stay that way. Your girlfriend will not be the exception,"
"You can't know that for sure,"
"Look," Jack said, "you need to know what's happening here because this is where these things start. Small decisions that become mass slaughter. These creatures regain a foothold by exploiting human weakness. Then, they take a base and rebuild their forces. Before you know it, the cyber race is spreading across the universe, erasing worlds and assimilating populations, all because of the tiny beginnings here. We need to stop her. Together,"
Ianto stood up. "You're not listening to me. The conversion was never completed,"
"She already tried to kill Owen. You think she's going to stop there?" Jack questioned. "There is no turning back for her now,"
"I'm not giving up on her. I love her. Can you understand that, Jack? Haven't you ever loved anyone?"
"Jack..." Nightingale started.
Jack moved closer to Ianto. "You need to figure out whose side you're on here because if you don't know, you're not going to make it out of this alive,"
