𝐃ie? That's ridiculous. But to the kill everyone in this estate? That's horrific.

"Tick tock, little girl," he sings. "Three seconds left to go!"

Cassiopeia didn't want to kill people. No way. Not ever.

"And-"

"I'll do it," she whispers.

"One! I figured as much. Every one of your ancestors chose the same option. Now close you eyes, and pretend-"

"I'm not killing them," Cass says a little louder. "I'd rather die myself. It's the only ending I get anyway..."

The curse pauses, clearly taken aback. "What makes you think you can pull it off? Don't think you can trick me. The moment you decide not to die, I can take over your body just as quickly and murder everyone."

"I will do it," Cassiopeia responds firmly.

"... fine."

The next thing Cassiopeia recalls is gasping for air. Her eyes shoot open and the light in the library has returned to normal.

"Cassiopeia!"

Harry comes running along with Hermione, Ron, and Draco.

"Stop!" She wheezes. "Don't come any closer."

"What's wrong?" Harry asks. "What in Merlin's name happened?"

"Oh, crimey," Ron guffaws.

"I'm really sorry," she apologizes, regaining her air. She stands up ungainly. "I'm really sorry."

"What on earth are you apologizing for?" Harry pleads. There is something wrong. He can sense it.

"Just tell us what's going on," Hermione tentatively suggests. "We can help you."

Unwavering kindness. It breaks Cassiopeia's heart, and the tears finally fall. "No you can't," she cries. "No one can."

"We can help you," Draco whispers.

Cassiopeia responds in silence. She pulls out her wand and motions the Imperturbable Charm.

"No!" Harry runs forth, but an invisible shield pushes him back.

"Cass? CASS?" Draco bangs on the shield, but the charm is stronger than his fists.

"Do something!" Ron tells Hermione.

"I've never seen that charm or spell before. It'll take me a while to undo it, especially since she did nonverbal magic!"

"Then hurry!" Harry shouts.

Cassiopeia smiles bitterly. There is so much love for her, even if she could never accept it. More tears slip her cheeks.

"Thank you. Really."

She points the wand at herself.

"NOOO!" Harry roars.

"Avada Kedavra."
