One hectic morning, Sana found herself rushing to catch an elevator. In her haste, she barely noticed the small hand that grasped hers. Startled, she looked down to meet the curious gaze of a young boy. His eyes, wide and innocent, held a silent plea that tugged at Sana's heart. "Hey there," she murmured gently, crouching to his eye level. "Are you okay? Where's your parent?"
He remained silent, but his tiny finger pointed insistently toward Sana and the elevator doors. Trusting the child's instinct, Sana escorted him up to the top floor, where Hwan promptly made a beeline for Jihyo's office.
Meanwhile, Sana hurried to her desk, only to be summoned to Jihyo's office shortly after. As she entered, she found Jihyo frozen in surprise, her usually composed demeanor shattered by a word she never expected to hear from her son.
"Mama," Hwan exclaimed softly, his eyes brightening as he clung to Sana.
Jihyo's breath caught in her throat. Hwan had never spoken before. She watched in awe as her son snuggled into Sana's lap, finding comfort in her presence.
"Sana... I'm sorry," Jihyo stammered, her voice thick with emotion. "I didn't mean for this to happen..."
Sana, though taken aback, gently placed a hand on Hwan's back, feeling a rush of tenderness for the child and understanding for Jihyo. "It's okay," she reassured softly. "He's precious."
Jihyo explained how she often spoke of Sana to Hwan, showing him pictures and recounting stories from work. She never imagined he would form such a strong attachment.
As Hwan drifted off to sleep in Sana's arms, Jihyo felt a weight lift from her shoulders. Despite her strict demeanor at work, Sana had unknowingly become a source of comfort and familiarity for her son.In that quiet moment, as the morning sun cast gentle rays through the office window, Sana and Jihyo forged an unexpected bond a testament to the power of compassion and the unspoken language of love that transcends even the strictest of boundaries.
