Mina sat quietly at her desk, fiddling with the edge of her notebook, her eyes focused on the front of the classroom where the teacher was scribbling names on the whiteboard. Group project assignments were always her least favorite part of the semester. As an introvert, she preferred working alone, finding comfort in solitude and her own pace.

The thought of being paired up and having to interact more than usual made her stomach churn with nerves.

"Alright, everyone," the teacher announced, turning around with a smile. "I've decided to pair you up with someone I think will complement your strengths. Let's see... Myoui Mina, you'll be with Chou Tzuyu."

Mina's heart sank a little. She glanced over to the other side of the room, where Tzuyu sat, looking as serene and composed as ever. Tzuyu, the tall, quiet girl with the stoic expression, was known for being just as introverted as Mina, if not more. They'd rarely spoken, and now they were expected to work together on a project that would require cooperation and communication.

Tzuyu met Mina's gaze, offering a small, polite nod. Mina returned the gesture, her anxiety easing just slightly. Maybe, just maybe, working with another introvert wouldn't be so bad.
  Later that Day

Mina found herself standing awkwardly outside the school library, clutching her books to her chest. She had agreed to meet Tzuyu here after class to discuss their project. She didn't know what to expect; Tzuyu was an enigma to her. They shared a few classes, but they had never really talked.

Tzuyu appeared a few moments later, her bag slung over one shoulder, her expression as calm as always. She gave Mina a small wave. "Hi, Mina."

"Hi, Tzuyu," Mina replied, her voice soft. She shifted on her feet, unsure how to start. "So... the project."

"Yes," Tzuyu agreed, nodding. "The project." There was a moment of silence as they both tried to figure out what to say next. It was like a dance where neither of them knew the steps.

"I was thinking," Mina began cautiously, "maybe we could divide the work based on our strengths? I'm good with research and writing."

Tzuyu nodded. "That sounds like a good idea. I'm okay with organizing the presentation and handling the visuals."

Mina felt a small sense of relief. They were off to a good start, at least in terms of dividing responsibilities. "Great. Do you want to meet here again tomorrow to go over what we've found?"

Tzuyu smiled faintly, a rare sight that caught Mina off guard. "Sure. Same time?""Same time," Mina agreed.

 Over the Next Week

Their meetings in the library became a regular occurrence. At first, they spoke only about the project, keeping conversations strictly on-topic. But slowly, as the days passed, they started to open up to each other. It was small things at first—Tzuyu asking about Mina's favorite books, or Mina commenting on Tzuyu's neat handwriting.

Mina found that she actually enjoyed Tzuyu's company. There was a calmness to her that Mina found comforting, a steady presence that didn't demand too much. And Tzuyu, for her part, seemed to appreciate Mina's quiet thoughtfulness, the way she would pause to consider her words carefully before speaking.

One afternoon, as they sat in the library, working side by side, Tzuyu spoke up. "Do you always like to work in the library?"

Mina looked up, slightly surprised by the question. "I do. It's quiet here... peaceful."

Tzuyu nodded, her expression thoughtful. "I like it too. It feels... safe."

Mina smiled softly. "Yeah, it does."

They continued to work, but something had shifted. There was a newfound understanding between them, a shared appreciation for their mutual quietness.

On the day of their presentation, Mina felt a flutter of nerves. Despite their weeks of preparation, standing in front of the class was still a daunting prospect. But as she glanced at Tzuyu beside her, she felt a little braver.

Tzuyu gave her a small, reassuring smile, her presence steadying Mina's nerves. They worked through their presentation seamlessly, their collaboration smooth and effective. When it was over, the class applauded, and their teacher nodded approvingly.

Afterward, as they walked out of the classroom together, Tzuyu turned to Mina. "You did great," she said, her voice sincere.

Mina blushed, feeling a warmth spread through her chest. "You too, Tzuyu. I couldn't have done it without you."

Tzuyu smiled again, that rare, soft smile that Mina was starting to love. "Maybe... we could work together again sometime?"

Mina nodded, a shy smile on her lips. "I'd like that."

As they walked down the hallway, side by side, Mina realized that sometimes, the people you least expect could turn out to be the ones who understand you the most. And maybe, just maybe, this project had been the start of something new—a friendship, or perhaps something more, between two introverted souls who had found comfort in each other's quiet company.
