Jihyo groaned as she rolled over in bed, the sunlight streaming through the curtains hitting her face. She squinted at the clock on her nightstand and her eyes widened in panic when she saw the time.
"Oh no, I'm late!" she exclaimed, quickly throwing off the covers and scrambling out of bed.
Jeongyeon, who had woken up earlier and was already dressed, leaned against the doorway with a teasing smile. "Morning, sleepyhead. Finally decided to join the land of the living?"
Jihyo shot her a playful glare. "Not helping, Jeongyeon. I'm going to be so late!"
As she rushed around the room trying to get ready, Jeongyeon couldn't help but chuckle. "Need any help?"
"No time!" Jihyo called back from the bathroom. She quickly brushed her teeth and splashed water on her face, trying to wake up fully.
When she caught sight of herself in the mirror, her eyes widened in horror. "Oh no, no, no..." There, on the side of her neck, was a dark hickey.
She tried to cover it with makeup, but the mark was too dark and too obvious. Resigning herself to her fate, she grabbed a scarf and wrapped it around her neck, hoping it would go unnoticed.
Jeongyeon entered the bathroom, pretending to check her hair but actually there to see how Jihyo was managing. "You okay?"
Jihyo glared at her through the mirror. "Look at this," she pointed to the hickey. "This is your fault!"
Jeongyeon smirked and leaned in to kiss her cheek. "I don't hear you complaining usually."
Jihyo rolled her eyes but couldn't help the small smile that crept onto her lips. "You're impossible. Now go, I'll catch up."
Jeongyeon left for the scheduled activities, arriving on time and trying to act as normal as possible. She greeted the other members with her usual calm demeanor, although inside, she was a bit anxious about Jihyo's arrival.
About thirty minutes later, Jihyo rushed into the practice room, breathing heavily. The members turned to her with a mix of curiosity and concern.
"Jihyo, what took you so long?" Nayeon asked, raising an eyebrow. "And what's with the scarf?"
Jihyo chuckled nervously. "I, um, overslept. Sorry, everyone."
Mina, who had always been perceptive, squinted at Jihyo. "Are you feeling okay? You look a bit flustered."
"I'm fine, really," Jihyo insisted, trying to maintain her composure.
Sana, who had a mischievous streak, grinned. "Oh my God, did you get a hickey, Jihyo?"
Jihyo's face turned bright red, and she instinctively touched her scarf. "What? No, of course not!"
Tzuyu, the youngest and often the most straightforward, tilted her head in curiosity. "Then why are you wearing a scarf inside?"
Jihyo stammered, unable to come up with a convincing excuse. Before she could say anything, Jeongyeon intervened, her heart pounding as she tried to defuse the situation.
"Maybe she just felt like accessorizing today," Jeongyeon said casually, giving Jihyo a subtle wink.
Dahyun, who was always quick to notice things, narrowed her eyes playfully at Jeongyeon. "You're acting suspicious, Jeongyeon. Do you know something we don't?"
Jeongyeon laughed, trying to keep her cool. "Me? Suspicious? Never."
But Momo, always quick to catch on to the undercurrents among the group, nudged Jihyo's scarf aside, revealing the hickey. "Aha! I knew it!"
The room fell silent for a moment before Chaeyoung burst into laughter. "I guess someone had a fun night."
Jihyo and Jeongyeon exchanged a nervous glance. There was no point in hiding it any longer. Jihyo sighed and decided to come clean.
"Okay, yes, we're dating," Jihyo admitted, her cheeks burning. "We've been keeping it a secret because we didn't want to disrupt the group dynamics."
The members stared at them in shock for a second, then burst into excited chatter.
"That's so cute!" Sana exclaimed, her eyes twinkling with delight.
Nayeon crossed her arms, pretending to be stern. "And you didn't tell us? How rude!"
Jeongyeon shrugged sheepishly. "We just wanted to be sure before we said anything. But it looks like the secret's out now."
The other members quickly moved to hug and congratulate the couple.
"We're just glad you finally told us," Dahyun said, grinning. "And Jihyo, you might want to invest in some turtlenecks if you're going to keep showing up late with hickeys."
Everyone laughed, and the tension in the room dissipated. Jihyo felt a wave of relief wash over her as she realized that their secret was out, and their friends were genuinely supportive.
As they resumed practice, Jihyo couldn't help but glance over at Jeongyeon, who gave her a reassuring smile. They were no longer hiding, and it felt liberating.
Their relationship was now out in the open, and they knew they had the support and love of their friends. No matter what challenges lay ahead, they were ready to face them together, hickeys and all.
