Jihyo woke up to the sound of her phone buzzing insistently on the nightstand. Groggily, she reached for it, squinting at the screen to see her sister's name flashing in bold letters.
"Hey, unnie," Jihyo answered, her voice still thick with sleep.
"Jihyo, I have an emergency," her sister's voice rushed through the line. "Can you watch Hwan for me today? My sitter canceled last minute, and I have an important meeting."
Jihyo's heart raced as she sat up, glancing at Tzuyu, who stirred beside her. "Of course, no problem," she assured her sister, mind already racing with plans for the day. "Bring him over whenever you can."
An hour later, Jihyo and Tzuyu were bustling around the kitchen, making breakfast together. Tzuyu expertly flipped pancakes while Jihyo poured juice into glasses, their movements synchronized as if they'd done this a hundred times before.
Sana walked into the kitchen, blinking at the scene before her. "Wow, are you two practicing for something?" she teased, leaning against the counter with a knowing smile.
Jihyo blushed lightly, shooting a glance at Tzuyu who chuckled softly. "My sister needed us to babysit for the day," Jihyo explained, trying to sound nonchalant.
"And you decided to play house?" Nayeon chimed in, joining them with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
Tzuyu shrugged, setting a stack of pancakes on the table. "We're good at it," she said simply, her gaze lingering on Jihyo fondly.
Throughout the day, the members couldn't help but notice how seamlessly Jihyo and Tzuyu slipped into their roles as caretakers. From playing games with Hwan to preparing snacks and soothing his occasional tantrums, they handled everything with ease and grace.
Jeongyeon, passing by the living room where Jihyo was reading a story to Hwan, paused to observe them for a moment. "You two look like you've been doing this forever," she remarked softly, a hint of admiration in her voice.
Jihyo looked up, smiling gratefully. "It's been a learning curve," she admitted, glancing at Tzuyu who nodded in agreement.
As evening approached, Jihyo's sister arrived to pick up Hwan. She hugged Jihyo tightly, thanking her profusely for helping out on such short notice. "And thank you, Tzuyu," she added warmly, giving Tzuyu a grateful smile.
After they left, Tzuyu leaned against Jihyo, exhaling softly. "That was... surprisingly nice," she murmured, eyes softening as she looked at Jihyo.Jihyo wrapped an arm around Tzuyu, pressing a kiss to her temple. "Yeah, it was," she agreed, feeling a sense of contentment settle over her.
Later that night, as they curled up on the couch together, Jihyo couldn't help but feel thankful for moments like these—where they could be themselves, supported by their TWICE family, and cherished for who they were, together.
