CHAPTER SIXTY-TWO | EVERYTHING

He was quick to get on his feet and follow her as she walked down the dark alleyway and into a forlorn place in the area. "Sophie. Are you alright? What's going on?" Freddie stopped her, his hands on her shoulders as his eyes frantically took in her form.
Throwing herself onto the man, Sophia sobbed against his chest and caused him to become completely still before pulling her closer. She fisted his shirt, acting as though she could barely stand from how broken she was and leaned against his taller form. Freddie was both shorter and smaller than Storm in comparison, she noticed with ease, making her hands turn into fists. She hated human touch.
"Tell me what's wrong, Sophie."
She only sobbed louder, making his heart twist.
"Baby... Just tell me what it is and I'll make it all go away."
Sophia couldn't help but frown against his chest. He couldn't, after all. He was just a low-ranking officer, trying to climb up the ranks by taking her Storm away, away from her. They wouldn't even bat their eyes twice if he were to suddenly disappear.
Her cries quietened and turned into sniffles. She gathered her courage, pulled away from his chest and stared at him with large sparkling Bambi eyes with an innocent pout on her lips. "Promise me you won't tell anyone."
"I promise." Freddie cupped her cheek and ran his thumb over the height of it and Sophia leaned into his touch as if seeking his comfort. "Is it Storm? I told you to stay away from that man, didn't I?"
Tears welled her eyes at his words. "I thought I loved him but all he did was lie to me, hurt me and force me to-to-!" Sophia sobbed as though the words were hard to say, "to do despicable things!"
Freddie pulled her closer and let her sob into his chest. "What did he make you do?"
"It's not what he made me do but what he wants me to do."
"What does he want you to do then?"
Sophia let her teeth sink into her full lower lip. "I can't tell you... I don't wanna talk about it."
"I'll help you. You can tell me."
Sophia grew teary-eyed once more and shook her head. "I... I can't. I can only show you but... you have to promise me to come alone. And to not tell anyone."
"I swear it. On my life."
It took every ounce of self-control and discipline to control her face from grinning. Instead, she cried and shoved her face into his shirt which was already soaking wet. So wet he didn't notice that she wasn't crying tears anymore. "Thank you," she cried. "Thank you, thank you, thank you so much!"
Freddie hugged her just as tightly as she held him. "You're welcome, baby girl."
Sophia frowned against his chest. Only Storm was allowed to call her endearments. "I... I have to go now. I don't want him to get mad. He doesn't like it when I'm around other guys." Wasn't necessarily a lie. In fact, the more she thought about the more truthful it became. Storm was very possessive of her. More so possessive than protective perhaps. She liked it, however. She liked it a lot actually. "But can I... can I get your number?" Sophia flushed shyly, kicking her feet about.
