10 MONTHS LATER

5th of August, a saturday night and Evelyn's birthday Eve.
Something she is not excited for.
Evelyn had not been fond of celebrating her birthday ever since her fight with Gabriel on the same date.
She declined the plans made of going out and celebrating herself and enjoy.

She was in her living room, lying on her couch, watching a TV show and munching on unhealthy snacks.
The mood of depression had kicked in front the very start of the day.
All day, she has been a couch potato and does nothing.
Watching the TV show was just for the show, she was lost, reminiscent and gloomy thinking about how relationships fade and eventually change when new people find a place in someone's life.

While the sadness had taken control over her mind. This sadness was not for the hope of resolving the relationship between Gabriel and her but it represented her pain for the fact that the fight had changed everything between them.
They rarely talked after that. They have been out of contact for over a year now.
And what's more hurtful is that he didn't consider her that important to find some time in his schedule for her on the day she was leaving.
The friendship of 13 years had been wasted because of unthoughtful and messy miscommunication.

Suddenly, her house's doorbell rang.
She got up in mystery and looked around her dark house in astonishment. It was night already. The clock read 10:37 pm.

She was a bit hesitant to open the door as she reached it.
She peeped into the peephole and to her surprise, there was nobody.
She opened her house door and still found no one around. It was dark and deserted outside. She was quite suspicious but let it go, thinking of it as a prank someone pulled on her.
She was dumbstruck and was about to close the door when her eyes sighted a box placed on the floor.
"OPEN ME!", a sticky note on the box read.

Gaining some courage, she decided to let go of her suspicion regarding the same.
She opened the box and found many chocolates sedimented in the box hid yet another note.
She picked up the note,
"YOU SAID THAT YOU DON'T FEEL LIKE GOING OUT AND PARTY. SO, I, DECIDED TO BRING THE PARTY TO YOU! LOOK OUTSIDE AGAIN!".

Evelyn turned back to look outside,
"HAPPY EVE!", Samuel shouted as he burst a party popper right when Evelyn turned around.
Evelyn was left starstruck at this action.
Her eyes glittered as they shone brightly.

Samuel was still at the house door, leaning on the door frame with his arms wrapped around his chest. Evelyn looked at him with eyes full of love. She smiled at him.

"How can you be any more nice?", Evelyn said while chuckling helplessly.

Samuel stood up and walked towards her.
He was 5 steps away and every step he took to move close to her, Evelyn's heart jumped.
Finally when he reached her, a sweet smile traced her mouth.

Samuel wrapped his arm around Evelyn's neck and pulled her head closer to his face. Evelyn gripped his arm around her neck with both of her hands because she liked the feeling of being held by him.
He leaned his face close to her head and left a kiss on her head.

"You really think, I would let you breathe alone? It's your Eve! It's so special.", Samuel said in a low voice that enhanced his vocal specialties.

Inside the house, Samuel set up a feast of the food he got on the table in front of the couch while Evelyn looked at him do it.
She felt insanely grateful. Her smile at that moment was so true and real that she could feel her cheeks hurting.
