Darry's POV, August 29th, Thursday:
Tomorrow is the first game. Coach said that I've been doing well in practice, but I haven't played in a real game in so long.

"You know you do better when you sleep."
Brynlee is my roommate. She's a cheerleader. If you couldn't tell by that attitude.

"Well no shit. I just can't sleep right now." I finally sit on my bed after pacing and look at the clock.

11:32pm.

"At least lay the hell down. We both have big days tomorrow."

"Jeez Barbie. Ken, must not have given you enough head." I tell her. She has a lot of mouth for a short, blonde, with green eyes.

I hear her sigh in the darkness as I finally lay in my bed and try to close my eyes.
I've already told Tommy and both my brothers about how worried I am. And to make things worse, They all want to come. Everyone except for Tommy and Makylee because he has to work at eleven pm, Friday night and the drive is a two hour minimum.

I miss him. So much. As much as I imagined I would.

I think, thinking about him helps me falls asleep.
Because I finally fell.

Friday, August 30th
When you're in the game, quarters go by like light work. Or maybe because the team we're playing is ass. Fourth quarter we're winning 66-0.
Offense scores another touchdown and it's game over.

We celebrate in the locker room, shower, and then change. Half the crowd is still out there talking and stuff. Our crowd at least, the losing team left real fast.

I have to search for my family. But when I see them I go running.

I hug them all. "I'm so happy y'all made it."

"Yeah me too. You play really good for someone that hasn't done anything in two years." Mom pats me.

"Okay, backhanded."

"I'm joking dumbass." She rolls her eyes.

We laugh.

"Tommy and Makylee couldn't make it?" Steve asks.

I sigh, "no, he had to work to-"

"I figured I could take off of work."

I turn around and I scream, I think I nearly tackle him down with my hug.

I whisper, "I would kiss you, but not out here. I'm closeted."

"Aw." He complains.

"Where's Makylee?"

"Right here." Dally passes her off.

I gasp, "how long have you had her?"

"The whole time. I'm so pregnant that you didn't notice her when you hugged me."

I laugh and take her, she giggles in my hands, "are you happy to see me?"

"She's literally never laughed before." Tommy tells me.
