Friday, January 10th
Johnny's POV:
So we were having our typical Friday night circle, with everyone again because Steve came back and Tommy didn't have to work!

But then something kinda odd happened, Cannon called Pony.

"Why'd he call you?" I laughed.

"I don't know?" Pony shrugged answered and put him on speaker.
"Hello?"

"Pony, how do I not be gay?" He was very obviously sobbing.

"You're asking the wrong one." Pony shakes his head.

"Don't you think your girlfriend breaking up with you, just made you kinda sad?" I ask him.

"Well yeah, but then something happened and I don't want be gay..." he sobs.

I stifle back a laugh. A few of us do, but Tommy looks very sad.

"Hey man, if you are there's literally nothing you can do about it, so you shouldn't really drop the 'I don't want to be' mentality. But I don't think you're gay, cannon." I shrug.

"Pause, what lead to this?" Pony raised an eyebrow.

The room giggles.

"So I have a friend, that's in my grade. And he's always flirting with me. But he's this athletic, band guy, like he plays one of the big instruments, but he also plays every sport our school offers and in high school when they're more sports, he'll probably play those too. And all his friends are guys, and all the girls try to flirt with him, but I guess they never notice how uncomfortable he looks. So you know he's this very popular kid stupid people, most people think he's straight, flirting with me puts his whole reputation on the line and he does. Not publicly, but it's not any secret either it's like that saying or whatever. Private but not a secret. If he doesn't sit near me, he'll pass me a note at the end of class. But he usually tries to sit close to me. And a lot of times I hear his friends from one of his sports ask me 'why do you always sit near, Cannon? He doesn't seem like the type you talk you.' And his answer is usually just, 'Cannons a nice guy.'"

He goes silent for a short minute.

"You know one time he called me pretty?
No one's ever called me pretty before.
If he does something good like he does and a teacher gives him a piece of candy, it goes straight to me.
And sometimes if we're far back enough in class and our book bags are hiding it, he'll hold my hand under the table or lay his head on my shoulder.
He gave me one of his fifty-million bracelets.
He gave me his number too, I'm scared to put it in my phone. I don't want his number to turn me gay."

He spoke this last part extra slow,
"One time, really only once. We were changing classes and I was at my locker and he kept motioning at me to wait, so I waited and I waited and then once the whole hallway was clear he walked over and kissed me on my head and he gave me a hug. He's tall, he's very tall for us to only be thirteen, he's like the same height as you. But we didn't have the same class right then, so when I went I to go into class Mrs. Rockers was like 'where were you?' So I said, 'the bathroom.' And she told me to go to the office and get a tardy pass. And when I walked back out her class he was standing outside his door and he smiled at me and said, 'we should probably go get a tardy pass.' He held out his arm and I took it and we walked to the office together.
But yeah..."

I have to wipe my eyes, "my heart is so full." I huff.

"I honestly feel like you're just fantasizing and none of this is really in your head." Soda nods, "because that was too perfect."

"Yeah he looks a fantasy, but he's real." Cannon shrugs.

"You need to punch that number in your phone right now, and claim your man." Pony tells him.
