The excitement buzzed through the Slytherin common room like electricity as the house prepared for one of its infamous parties. The event, a celebration of the latest Quidditch victory over Ravenclaw, promised to be a night of revelry and mischief. Y/n found herself caught up in the whirlwind of preparations, Pansy by her side as they decided on outfits and gossiped about potential party drama.Pansy flopped onto Y/n's bed, holding up two dresses.
"So, which one do you think screams 'I'm here to celebrate, but don't mess with me'?"
Y/n glanced between the dresses—a sleek, emerald green number and a short, black, velvet dress with silver accents.
"Definitely the black one. It's got that classic Slytherin vibe without being too over the top."
Pansy grinned.
"Good choice. Now, what about you? Got your outfit all sorted?"
She gestured to her own dress hanging by the wardrobe—a simple yet elegant deep green dress that hugged her curves in all the right places.
"Think this will do?"
Pansy gave an approving nod.
"Absolutely. You'll turn heads for sure. Especially a certain someone's."
Y/n rolled her eyes, a smile tugging at her lips.
"And who might that be?"
"Oh, come on, you know who I'm talking about. Mattheo Riddle, obviously." " I heard Daphne Greengrass has her sights set on him tonight."
Y/n rolled her eyes, trying to ignore the sudden twist in her stomach at the mention of Mattheo and Daphne. With a sigh, she began fixing her hair.
"Oh, please. Mattheo can handle himself. Besides, he's not my problem."
Pansy snorted.
"Please. Daphne Greengrass might be pretty, but she's got the personality of a flobberworm. Mattheo's not stupid. He knows quality when he sees it." Pansy smirked, her eyes dancing with amusement. "But you can't deny there's something between you two."
"Yeah, right," Y/n muttered, focusing on her reflection. "Well, if he doesn't, it's no skin off my nose."
Pansy watched her carefully, a knowing smile playing on her lips.
"Just don't let her get to you, okay? You're better than that."
"Thanks, Pans," Y/n said, her voice softening. "I appreciate it."
"Anytime, babe. Now, let's get this party started."
As they made their way to the common room, the familiar, dimly lit ambiance of Slytherin House surrounded them. The dungeon-like space was decorated in true Slytherin fashion—dark green tapestries adorned the walls, flickering candles casting eerie shadows, and the low, stone ceiling giving the room a cozy yet formidable atmosphere.
The center of the room was dominated by a large, ornate fireplace, its green flames crackling and casting a warm glow over the black leather sofas and armchairs arranged around it. Tables were set up with an array of drinks and snacks, while enchanted lights floated above, adding a magical sparkle to the room.
The party was in full swing, music thumping and students mingling with drinks in hand. Y/n found herself in the midst of it all, navigating the social currents with practiced ease.
She chatted with Blaise and Theo, exchanged pleasantries with Enzo, and even managed to laugh at some of Draco's more ridiculous stories.
But her eyes kept drifting to Mattheo, who was surrounded by a group of admirers, Daphne among them. He looked effortlessly charming, leaning back against the wall with that signature smirk of his. She couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy as she watched Daphne lean in closer, laughing at something he said.
