The sun streamed through the tall windows of the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, casting a warm glow on the students as they settled in for another challenging lesson.Professor Lupin had promised a practical class today, and the excitement in the air was palpable.
Y/n found herself looking forward to it, especially since the recent party had brought her and Mattheo Riddle closer. Their budding connection added a layer of anticipation to their interactions, and she couldn't help but wonder what today would bring.
"Alright, everyone, settle down," Professor Lupin called out, his voice carrying a hint of amusement at the students' eagerness. "Today, we'll be working on dueling techniques. Partner up and prepare to defend yourselves."
Y/n glanced around, her eyes landing on Mattheo, who was already looking her way with a mischievous grin.
"Ready for a friendly duel, Malfoy?" he called out, making his way over to her.
"Always, Riddle," she shot back, her heart skipping a beat at the playful challenge in his eyes.
They moved to an open space in the classroom, wands at the ready. The rest of the students followed suit, pairing up and creating a buzz of excitement and anticipation.
"Remember, this is a friendly duel," Professor Lupin reminded them. "Show respect and control in your spells. On my mark... begin!"
Mattheo wasted no time, launching the first spell with a quick flick of his wand.
"Expelliarmus!"
Y/n countered effortlessly, deflecting the spell with a confident grin.
"You'll have to do better than that, Riddle."
"Oh, I intend to," he replied, a glint of challenge in his eyes. "Stupefy!"
She dodged the stunning spell, her movements graceful and precise.
"Impedimenta!"
Mattheo blocked the spell with a shield charm, his expression one of focused determination.
"You're pretty good, Malfoy. But I'm just getting started."
"Bring it on," she taunted, launching a series of jinxes that Mattheo skillfully deflected.
Their duel continued with a flurry of spells and counter-spells, each move met with a playful retort or a teasing comment. The rest of the class watched in awe as the two Slytherins showcased their skills, the friendly competition bringing out the best in both of them.
"You've got some serious talent," Mattheo admitted, breathing heavily as he deflected another hex. "But let's see how you handle this. Tarantallegra!"
Y/n laughed as her legs began to dance uncontrollably. She quickly cast the counter-spell, regaining control.
"Nice try, Riddle. Rictusempra!"
Mattheo was hit by the tickling charm, laughter bubbling up uncontrollably. He managed to counter the spell, still chuckling as he caught his breath.
"Okay, okay, you win this round."
"Don't worry, there's always next time," she said with a smirk, lowering her wand.
Professor Lupin clapped his hands, signaling the end of the duel.
"Well done, everyone. Excellent displays of skill and sportsmanship. Y/n, Mattheo, that was particularly impressive."
As the class began to wrap up, Mattheo walked over to her, a genuine smile on his face.
