enjoy!
Taylor glowed as she talked about Abby, and it made me see her in such a different, extraordinary way. I mean, I knew this whole time that she was a mother, but now she'd let me in and told me all about her daughter, I really saw it. The adoring Mom version of the woman I loved, the one who'd set rules and then let them be broken because she had such a big heart, the one who'd stay up all night to make sure her babies were okay, the one who'd sing her songs to them while dancing around the kitchen in the refrigerator light.
She was saying something, but I was lost in my visions of her doing these things. Then I felt Taylor nudge my arm and blinked myself back into reality to see her phone limp in her hand, a video of a little toddler stumbling a few steps across carpet before falling into Taylor's arms. I looked down at the video as it played again, watching how Taylor clapped and urged her daughter on to keep going, peppering her with kisses.
"She looks just like you." I said quietly. Abby was a carbon copy of the woman in my arms; same blue eyes, blonde hair, heart shaped face, happy smile. All of it.
"I know." Taylor smiled proudly. "Mom always says she can't see Abby's father in her at all, which you know, I'm kind of glad about. She's not his."
"She's yours." I kissed her shoulder. "Princess, she's beautiful. And whenever you decide it's okay, I would love to meet her." Taylor nodded, turning off her phone and kissing my cheek before she got up. She went into the bathroom and came out a few minutes later to put the pump away as I got changed.
Without saying a word, we automatically moved around each other like we'd been doing it for years. We got ready for bed, I turned the lights off, and then Taylor crawled into my arms and relaxed with a soft sigh. The fire sent light and warmth flickering through the room, and I wished like hell the world could stop. I didn't want to get up tomorrow, have to wrangle the kids, go home. Taylor wouldn't be at my home; she'd be at hers with her daughter. I'd suddenly gotten used to falling asleep next to her.
"Travis?" She asked after a short while.
"Yes princess?" I murmured.
"What's it going to be like when we get back?"
"How do you mean?"
"I mean." Taylor sighed, turning over in my arms to look up at me. "If we're dating, and we work together, and sometimes our paths cross you know? There's no rule that teachers can't date each other, but we'll get in trouble if we let it interfere."
"Oh so you think it'll interfere." I said teasingly, and Taylor giggled.
"Oh yeah." She whispered, drawing closer to whisper against my lips. "I'll come by your office during free periods and you can bend me over your desk." I chuckled, kissing her lightly.
"Dirty girl." I murmured. "Maybe I'll come by yours sometime, see if you still have that vocal range with my head between your legs." Taylor gasped, but I could tell she was delighted by the idea. "I don't mind people knowing about it if you don't." I murmured with a kiss on her cheek. "We'll just make sure we get everything done that we need to. Roll with it."
"I don't mind people knowing about it." She told me. "I'm pretty sure they know something's up anyway. And we've got the three weeks of winter break off before we go back, since school's over now." I nodded; I'd forgotten about that. Then Taylor bit her lip. "Why don't you come over for Christmas Eve? I know you'll probably have Christmas with your family but if you're free, we have a little Christmas Eve tradition of opening one present each, making cookies, just little things like that you know?"
