A month and a half later,

Jisoo shook off the last bits of sprinkles from the container before thrusting it at the bin and admiring the sweetest of sponge cakes she ever baked for their first wedding anniversary Now, approaching the last month, her tongue seemed inclined to sugars, munching on any dessert or chocolate. Namjoon had recovered entirely by then and commenced his regular routine. This whole month, she stepped outside on rare occasions much to her despair, and Namjoon's cautions riled her angst to the extent. But he was right. Things could go wrong even at the final stage, and never in life would she accept that after carrying out these 8 months.

A sullen sigh escaped her mouth. "What to do now, baby?" She rubbed her abdomen to receive a gentle nudge from inside. "Appa is out. The maids are out—none's home. That sly koala has to work overnight on this day." she pouted her lips in mock rage, but then her expression melted in sentiment. "You know byeol, when I met your appa, he was the grumpiest person I had ever witnessed. He used to look at me like I was some insect clawing on his neck. I felt bad though," her lips pursed in hush. The baby stirred beneath, returning her smile once again. "Then, I learned the reason behind his nature. I learned how he suffered, how cruel life played at him. I started to mend those gashes in his heart to pay the debt I still owe to him. He saved my life, so I tried the same." Her gaze fixed aloof, sparkles glimmered in her eyes. "Then, one day, we confessed, spilling out our hearts' secrets that our lives were entwined. As time left, we fell in love with each other deeper, and our thread grew stronger. We decided to tie the knot on this day a year before. We vowed even should death loom over, we would never leave each other. And then-" Her palms pressed onto her bump, tears quivering don't the verges of her eyeducts. The recollections flooded back afresh in her mind that she could touch them. "You came, byeol." A content smile stretched the corners of her mouth.

11.00 ticked on the clock when someone rapped the main door. Jisoo inhaled sharply to wear off the exhaustion settling her limbs and opened the door. Namjoon stood dripped in sweat, a bouquet of lilly stacked in his hold. "Sorry," he slipped into those puppy eyes Jisoo couldn't but resist falling. Her heart softened despite the rage simmered in her still. She heaved a sigh, pursing her lips. "I have been waiting for you like ages!"

He pulled his earlobes, flaring those glassy light brown orbs. "I had an important meeting." Jisoo didn't respond and turned away. He dashed behind and tugged her arm. "Soya," he kneeled and braced her bulged stomach. His cheek caressed the outstretched skin. "Happy first marriage anniversary to us," he mumbled.

The sides of her lips angled up no matter how hard she tried to mask them. He grasped her expression and laughed back. He stood back on his feet and glanced at the cake poised on the dining table. "You entered the kitchen?" His tone sharpened, earning her eyeroll. "Yes, I felt so bored, and byeol helped me."

He excitedly hastened to refreshen and devour the frosting he always facied of her  cakes. "You know, Soobin's birthday is tomorrow, right?"
Namjoon said while licking his fingertips.
"Hmm, have you bought the robot I told you earlier?"
"I have ordered it online."
"I should've purchased his gift when I last visited the shopping mall."
"Don't worry.....Besides eomma wanted to come."
"What did you say?"
"Yes. We need her. The baby is coming anytime, and we don't have any hand-to-hand experience. She is arriving tomorrow."
Jisoo squeaked in glee, clapping out loud.

After filling his stomach with sugary pieces of cake and a few gulps of cold drinks, Namjoon returned to their room. Jisoo brought a book in her hand and sank onto his lap.

"I created this album, of all our times together. From start to now."

Namjoon chuckled and lifted the cover. The photo to display first was from the initial discussion of Snowdrop. He was stiffened, masked in black attire and expressionless. Jisoo posed a few chairs beside, her hair loose and profile more carefree.
