You and Bakugo had to wait until a scheduled wedding ceremony ended before you could even attempt to get married.
As soon the newlyweds headed off to their reception, Bakugo caught the officiant on her way out of the main hall.
"You don't got anymore weddings, right?" Bakugo questioned, and the officiant leaned back, both confused and curious at the sudden confrontation.
"That was our last for the night," she said, checking her watch. "We also close in fifteen minutes."
"We only need five," Bakugo said, reaching over to grasp your hand without a glance. "We got rings, and were legal. Can you do your whole speech out of a book thing?"
"What he's trying to say," you intervened, stepping forward, "is can you take a few minutes to marry us?"
The woman sighed, checking her watch once more before saying, "is this an elopement?"
"If it gets us married sooner, call it whatever the hell ya want," Bakugo replied. "You in or not?"
"Hm," the officiant hummed, observing the two of you, "I haven't seen young love in a while," she waved her hand. "Come on then."
You and Bakugo shared a glance before rushing after the officiant, who had already begun to make her way back into the ceremony room.
It was quick. There were no vows, just a pause so the two of you could slip on the rings.
The officiant recited the speech she had most likely spoken thousands of times before eventually officially declaring the two of you husband and wife.
The kiss was short and feverish, but it was perfect. Any kiss with Bakugo was, even if it was a simple, chaste peck.
After receiving some wishful thinking from the officiant, the two of you stepped out of the church and underneath the night sky.
You closed your eyes at the feeling of small snow flakes dissolving against your cheeks, and you craned your head back to welcome more of them.
"Hm," you hummed, opening your eyes and lowering your head to find Bakugo staring at you fondly, "[Y/N] Bakugo. It kinda has a ring to it."
"It better after all the shit that's happened this year," he replied, but there wasn't the usual roughness in his tone. He was just calm, content.
"How do you think our—" you cut yourself off, realizing your mistake. "How do you your parents will react?" Bakugo squeezed your hand, thumb brushing across your knuckles.
"The hag'll probably scream at me, say I'm rushing into things like always," he answered, "but, if she knows why we did it, she'd—"
"No," you interrupted, and he didn't snap back. "You, Shinso, Todoroki, and Aizawa know. That's enough for me. Besides, everyone has their own stuff going on, and the class needs to worry about finding Midoriya."
"You think you're not worthy of their concern or somethin'?" he questioned.
"That's not what I meant," you sighed, turning to face him. You grabbed his other hand, finding comfort in his smooth palms and warm skin. "I don't need the whole word worrying about me, running around to take care of me. I have you. That's enough. That'll always be enough."
Bakugo huffed through his nose, the exhale decorating the air with white mist. His fingers tightened around your hands.
"Okay," he reluctantly agreed, chin dipping into the beige scarf wrapped around his neck, "but, after all this, after you're done, and I'm alone, I'm allowed to tell everyone how strong you were. I'm allowed to blab about you however much I want."
"When I'm gone," you began with an exhale, "you can do whatever you want."
"Expect marry again," he was quick to reply, "and except get over you. That'll never happen."
Your eyes traveled down to the jewelry adorning your ring finger, and you couldn't help but feel like something was off.
"Do you think Aizawa would find if we got these engraved?" you wondered allowed, clinking your ring against his.
"They're ours now," Bakugo stated. "He gave 'em to us. We can do whatever we want with 'em."
His hands departed from yours only to settle on your lower back where he used the leverage to pull you closer.
"Whaddya want on 'em?" he asked.
"Hm, this might sound cheesy," you began, draping your arms over his shoulders with a mischievous grin, "but I want yours to say Poppy and mine to say Mighty Mouse. It can be in the inside of course."
"Seriously?" he questioned with a breathy chuckle. "You want those damn nicknames on our wedding rings."
"I don't want something basic like 'forever yours' or 'dearly beloved'," you explained. "I want something that tailors to us, us and our stupid teenage love that dragged us to a church in the middle of the night to get married."
"Fine," he sighed with forced annoyance. "I'll get it done tomorrow."
"Lovely," you exhaled. "Now, let's get back before Aizawa sends out a rescue team."
Bakugo grumbled something inaudible to you before taking your hand once more and walking you over to the car. You watched him fondly as he went to open the passenger door for you.
He's changed so much since you've met him, but you've particularly taken notice to how severely his gaze has softened.
His eyes used to be so narrowed, so sharp. He used to glare at everyone and anything in his vicinity. Now, his eyes were so soft, content, which resulted in the rest of his features becoming more vulnerable and welcoming.
You'd like to think you were the main reason for his improvement in behavior, and maybe you were. However, he was to be given some credit to.
You were just a temporarily solution, but that was okay. You'd rather die loving him than live losing him.
