ANGEL'S POV
I had everything ready for my plan to take my revenge. Of course it would've helped if Andrew and I hadn't broken up, but never the less I knew he was the one. Years ago my sister and I were friends with the neighbor kids Jade and Andrew. Andrew wasn't around much because he didn't show much interest in us girls, but Jade and the two of us were like the three musketeers. Andrew eventually grew jealous that we wouldn't let him into our "club" and started to spend his time pranking us.
It was close to Christmas and the town was covered in a thin layer of snow. Us three girls were playing hide and seek. We played in the woods behind our house and kept going until dark when our mothers called us in. I remember coming home and getting ready for dinner, but my sister was missing still. Both of my parents put on jackets and grabbed flash lights going out there calling her name. Each time their voices seeming to sound more frightened.
The next morning Jade and Andrew were gone. There was a "for sale" sign in front of their house and no forwarding address. My parents put up fliers and the police set up amber alerts. A few days after the disappearance one of the search parties found a shoe. They searched that area for hours and eventually found her body surrounded by some decomposing animals. The way the search party described her was horrible. They said her eyes were glazed over and body cold to the touch. She was only six years old, how did this happen? The only unexplainable thing that no one could figure out was the two puncture wounds on her neck. The coroner who performed her autopsy couldn't explain it. He placed the blame on some wild animals. My parents blamed me. I was ten years old, I was supposed to be responsible for my sibling.
Mom disappeared shortly after the funeral. Me and Dad never saw or heard from her again. My dad couldn't handle the pain and after a few months took his own life. He left a note for me to find one morning saying how he was sorry and to call my grandparents. Apparently they received a letter too, so I didn't have to wait long for them to find me and bring me to their house. At age eleven I was halfway to my grandparents where I'd spend the next five years before I found the twins again. During those five years I was suicidal and depressed, living life like I was on autopilot. I was walking home from school one day when I was attacked by something. I remember feeling something ripping off my scarf and breathing on my neck. I quickly felt two razor sharp teeth press against my skin. I closed my eyes letting a single tear escape. I was ready to die. Ready to join my family.
But death never came. The attacker was ripped off by another complete stranger who fought with him (it?) for a while. Then the stranger pulled out a piece of wood from somewhere in his jacket and stabbed my attacker in the chest. My attacker fell to his knees staring up at the stranger while the stranger pulled out a silver gun. He mumbled something before shooting a single bullet into my attackers head. That's when I screamed. The gunman whipped around to face me and crossed his arms waiting until I stopped screaming.
"You done...? Good. The name's Damien and that was a vampire. Don't bother to call the police they'll never believe you." He stated matter of factly and walking away.
I got up running after him shouting for him to wait. I had so many questions. He stopped at a crosswalk and pressed the button starting the timer for him to cross.
"You have thirty seconds sweetheart." He said.
"A vampire? I thought they didn't exist? Does this mean werewolves exist? What does that make you? Why are you here? And where did you learn to do that?" I spewed out hearing the timer tick by.
"That's a story for another day sweetheart." He said before crossing the street.
"But I want to know! I think my sister was killed by one of those things too!" I yelled.
He stopped in the middle of the road, causing a couple of cars to stop and honk their horns. He turned around and walked back. Once he was back on the sidewalk he grabbed my shirt and pulled me into him pressing the barrel of his gun to my ribs.
"You're lying. What do you really want? Who are you?" He spat out fiercely.
"I'm Angel." I lied. "And I want to be like you." I said with my voice quivering.
His mouth slowly curled into a smile and he pulled away holding out a hand. "Well then, welcome to Hell Angel." And thus began my training.
Damien and I traveled everywhere, I continued to look for the twins along the way. Part of my training was to have a religion. I never believed in anything, but Damien got me to believe in Christianity.
We were doing God's work by getting rid of these abominations that roamed the Earth. A stake to the heart and a bullet to the head is what permanently killed them. Before each kill Damien would mumble a quick prayer hoping to repent the sin of him killing. This continued up till I was 17 when we finally found the twins. Damien had done the initial research on them. Eventually Damien gave me a job to do. My job was to insert myself in Andrew's life and gain his trust and find out who killed my sister. Either way I would eventually kill both of Andrew too, but it didn't hurt to try and get information out of him first.
For a couple days it was nice to be loved by someone and have them care for me, but I tried to not let myself get distracted from my mission. I was so focused on Jade that I didn't realize Andrew was drifting apart from me. So I started to play the clingy girlfriend. That's when he broke up with me, I guess I played to role too well. It did however cause me to make a decision in my mind on who the killer was. The rage Andrew demonstrated and his eyes just had this animalistic instinct to kill. It was him. I knew it for sure.
Damien saw my stunt and said that I nearly blew my cover so he decided to go in as my half brother. Jade seemed to buy it, but Andrew wasn't too convinced. But that was okay because he just needs to believe it until the winter formal.
"Oh Andrew. I'll bring you and your sister to the light." I said to the empty room.
