Once we made it to the station, we met up with Dewey and Gale who said the archives were closed and security wouldn't let them in. "Well, I guess you guys could check again tomorrow. Should be open then and if anyone gives you a hard time, just let one of us know." Mark gestured to himself and the busy room behind him.

"Did you guys figure anything out?" Dewey asked.

"A lot of questioning, but didn't find anything significant," Mark sighed. "We're going to run a few people's phone records but other than that, nothing yet."

"I didn't find anything either," I said, even though I really wasn't looking for anything.

"Yeah, I'm sure you were too busy on your date," Gale rolled her eyes.

"Wait, what?" Dewey asked, looking at me in confusion.

I sighed, "It wasn't a date. Roman took me to lunch to talk about the Stab 3 script. He wants me to join the writing team."

"Seriously? You said no, right?" he asked and I furrowed my brows.

"Actually, I said maybe. We went back to his office and brainstormed ideas."

Dewey groaned. "Hazel, you seriously want to write the script about the movies you despise?"

"Well, maybe I could give it a better ending."

He shook his head. "I don't think it's a good idea. Obviously, someone involved in the movie is doing this, and now you're getting yourself looped in even more with it. It's not safe!"

I clenched my fist. "It's not a big deal. I never actually said yes anyway. Besides, I have you there to protect me, don't I?"

He ran his hand down his face, a deep frown settling on his lips. "I haven't done the best job of that the last two times."

I felt my heart break at this but before I could say anything, Mark spoke up. "Well, I'm here this time, and I will make sure no harm comes to any of you."

I looked at Mark, him meeting my gaze and I felt safe. Like I know he really can protect us. But then I thought about the boys. Do I really need protection?

"Well, Jenifer is having a wrap party at her place tonight, I should probably start heading over there," Dewey said with a sigh.

"Why?" Gale asked with an annoyed look. Dewey opened his mouth before shaking his head and walking out. "Dewey!" Gale exclaimed, following after him.

I chuckled, watching as the two left the building, bickering, before turning back to Mark. "So you're thinking about working on Stab 3," he said and I nodded. "You know it's been shut down, right? I assume that is why Miss Jolie is having her little get together."

I frowned, shaking my head. "No, I didn't know."

He nodded, "Yeah, after everything with Sarah Darling, it was shut down today. Roman believes it will start back up though, so that's probably why he is wanting you to help write it."

I let out a breath. "Makes sense I guess."

He sat on the edge of his desk, looking down at me for a moment while tapping his finger on his knee before he suddenly spoke up, "Do you want to go get a drink?"

I looked at him in surprise, "Oh, uhm, well, aren't you on duty?"

He chuckled, glancing down at his watch, "In two minutes my shift ends. There's a place down the block we all like to go to when we need a little pick me up."

I bit my lip, contemplating it for a moment before shrugging. "Sure, I'd love to, Detective."

He grinned, getting up and grabbing his keys. He led me out of the precinct, saying goodbye to a couple officers on our way out. He left his car in the lot, leading me down the sidewalk. We walked in a comfortable silence down the sidewalk and then across the street, turning a corner until we were in front of a bar. I felt an uneasy feeling for a moment, a shiver going down my spine as he held open the door. I looked around me, seeing no one before going in with him. We sat down at the end of the bar and a woman came up to us quickly.
