"Hazel!" I heard multiple people yell and run towards me. I looked over to see Dewey and Mark at the front of a group of people, Stu and Billy in their disguises not far behind.
"Oh God, Hazel, are you okay?" Dewey asked, kneeling beside me. Mark came over, as well, helping me sit up.
"The killer, he's here. He's in Sid's house," I said, pointing beside us. Mark and a few guards ran inside as Dewey helped me stand.
"That house is all set up for the flashback to Maureen being murdered. You weren't supposed to see that," he sighed, looking at me worriedly.
"He was in there Dewey, I swear," I said.
"It's okay, I believe you."
Angelina, Tyson, Gale, and Jennifer came in looking around in shock. "There's no one up here," a guard called.
"Let's go outside," Dewey said, leading me out.
As we walked, I looked over, seeing Billy and Stu looking at me in worry. I gave them a nod before they were out of my view.
Once outside, Mark caught up to us. "We didn't find anyone, but there is evidence of a struggle and blood."
"That's from me," I sighed, showing them my arm.
"Hazel! Why didn't you say anything?" Dewey exclaimed.
"I had just been pushed from a second-story window, I was a little preoccupied with that." Mark gently grabbed my hand, bringing my arm closer to take a look. "It's not deep, it's fine. I've had worse," I said.
"Wallace, get a medic over here please," Mark called out to the officer interviewing Angelina and Tyson.
He turned back to me and gave me a small smile. "You okay to tell me what happened?" he asked.
I nodded, leaning against the wall as a medic came over. He started cleaning my arm and bandaging it as I explained. "I ran into Angelina in the bathroom. She left her brush so I went after her to give it back. I was in the set of my room when he pulled me through the window. He chased me into Sid's house and I ended up in that room. I tried fighting him off but ended up tripping. He cut my arm while he had me held down and said some gross stuff and eventually, I was able to kick him off. But then he ended up pushing me against the window with the knife to my throat. I thought he'd really kill me but he ended up pushing me out the window instead."
Mark wrote this all down, nodding along as I explained. "What did he say?"
"Uh, usual stuff I guess," I mumbled, not wanting to repeat what he really said. "He did say that I'd know the truth soon, whatever that means."
"Dewey, come on, she's fine," Gale said as she and Jenifer came up to us.
"Gale, she was just attacked," Dewey said, looking at her with wide eyes.
"We need to go talk to Milton!"
"But-"
I cut Dewey off, "It's okay, Dew, go ahead. I'm okay."
He looked hesitant and Mark said. "We're going to head to the station and then get you to a safe house. We're going to do whatever it takes."
Dewey nodded, seeming pleased to hear this. "Okay, it's going to be alright, Haze. Just be cautious. He's watching."
"And he wants you," Mark said solemnly.
Dewey was pulled away by Gale and Jenifer just as the medic finished bandaging me up.
Mark and I started walking towards where his car is parked and I chewed on my lip. I need to talk to the boys. I need to go home. "I don't think a safe house is necessary. I honestly just want to go home."
He didn't look at me as he walked, going right to his car. "I'm sorry Hazel, but it's the only option we have to make sure he cannot get to you."
"But Mark, I'd be fine at home," I argued.
He stopped, causing me to almost run into him as he turned around to face me. "I let my guard down today and you were attacked. I'm not letting that happen again. You've been through too much and I am going to make sure you are safe. And then I am putting a stop to this once and for all."
I was taken aback, looking at him in shock, my mouth opening and closing, not knowing what to say. But then I remembered the last time I was supposed to go to a safe house. I do not want anything like that to happen to Mark. "I was on my way to a safe house three years ago and Ghostface still got me, and he killed the cops I was with. I don't want that happening to you."
He looked down at me, his eyes softening as he took a step closer, grabbing my hand. "You don't have to worry about me, Hazel. I am here to protect you."
I shook my head, "No. I'm not going to let you die protecting me. I won't let it happen."
He searched my face, looking like he was holding back something he desperately wanted to say until he sighed, giving me a small smile. "I'm afraid that's not up to you."
He started walking back to the car again and I looked at him in shock and frustration, running after him.
He was already in the car, starting it up when I caught up to him. I stood outside of it, crossing my arms. "I'm not going with you if you're just going to send me away and then go on a suicide mission."
He looked at me through the window and frowned. "Hazel, get in the car."
"No."
"You seem to be forgetting I am an officer of the law. You're supposed to listen to me."
"I don't care. I'm not going to a safe house."
We stared at each other for a minute until he rolled his eyes, a smile threatening to come upon his lips. "You're so damn stubborn. Fine, just come with me to the station so I can get the report in at least."
"Then I can go home?"
"Then you can go home."
I smiled, pleased with myself, and got into the car. As he backed up I saw Billy and Stu watching us, Billy looking very displeased.
I looked away quickly, pretending that I didn't see them.
