Once we were seated at the small table, looking over our menus, he smiled at me. "I'm really happy you agreed to join me."
I smiled as well, nodding. "Me too."
"Also, I'm sorry you've been dragged into the mess again," he reached over, taking my hand in his.
I furrowed my brow, looking down at our hands, a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach, but didn't move away. "Oh, uhm, it's okay. Not your fault."
He chuckled. "I feel responsible though. It's my movie about your life and now the killer is back."
"Well, if it makes you feel any better, I'm sure it's not just because of your movie that I am involved." I sighed, shaking my head as I looked out the window. "Whoever this killer is, I think they have something big planned. And I don't think your movie being ruined is their main target."
His hold on my hand tightened for a moment and he looked at me sadly. "Why do you say that?"
"I've been the target twice before. It's safe to say I am this time as well."
"Well, technically you weren't the target the first time, right? Sidney was."
I nodded, smiling a little. "Yeah, I guess you're right."
He rubbed his thumb against my skin and it left a tingling sensation as he did. I took a shaky breath before sitting up straight, pulling my hand back just in time for the waitress to arrive, taking our orders.
"So, how is working for Flowerstand productions?" he asked, taking a sip of his drink.
"Oh, it's great." I said but he gave me a look and I sighed. "Okay, it's not as good as I had hoped when they first hired me."
He chuckled, "Mhm, that's why I left. Sunshine is much better at making you feel like your movie really matters."
I pursed my lips, thinking back to the conversations I've had with some of the head people at Flowerstand. Maybe Sunshine would be better?
"Of course, you could always test them out by joining on for Stab 3."
I rolled my eyes playfully. "Oh, so this lunch is just a way for you to charm me into joining the team?"
He shook his head, laughing. "Charm you? Yes. But not necessarily to join the movie."
I blushed at his words, picking at my food as I felt too embarrassed to look into his eyes. Then I thought about Stu and Billy. They'd kill Roman in a second if they saw him flirting with me.
I looked back at him, chewing on my lip before admitting, "I won't lie, I have been thinking about Stab 3." His eyes lit up as the words left my mouth.
"Really?"
"It would be nice to take the reins, put an end to these terrible movies."
He grinned, nodding. "That's what I was saying. You can take charge of your own story."
"Well, I guess it couldn't hurt just to run some ideas with you? See what direction we're both thinking about taking the story."
"Sounds great, we could go back to my office after lunch and work on it?"
"Okay," I agreed.
"It's a date," he winked and I rolled my eyes.
"Sure, a work date."

After lunch, he drove us back to Sunshine Studios. We were having a great time, laughing and joking around. We talked about all kinds of things. Starting with when we went to class together, but then getting into other topics.
