Lamark had been escorted by Papa Brand. They made way into his room. Lamark sat on the bed and wiped his sweaty hands on the covers. He stretched and wiggled his toes. He felt little stings below after laying down all that time. He looked around the room and felt a small smile creeping its way onto his face.
"Welcome back, 13-2." Papa Brand begun. He put down the clipboard and the voice recorder box.
He turned and faced Lamark, with his arms crossed. Lamark looked up at Papa Brand. He couldn't read his face. He didn't know how to read emotions. What was he thinking?
"As you should know, you'll need to be monitored. Your friends, 13-2 and 18-8 have received punishment for their behaviour. Do you think you need one too, 13-2?"
Lamark looked up at Papa Brand's eyes. He had been questioned of his morality's. Should he too receive a punishment?
[ "Think Out Of the Box. Which box Dylan?" ] Lamark thought to himself. He shook his head before speaking up again. "I don't think that's necessary Papa Brand. I'm glad to be back. I missed my own bed."
Papa Brand rose his eyebrows before nodding his head with a shower. He turned around and wrote on the clipboard.
"Good. I was hoping you'd say that. Now, we have a lot of work to do. You've missed a lot of sessions. You'll need to catch up soon. Think you can do that?" Papa Brand questioned Lamark.
"No, not at all." He said. His voice a little shaky. He played with his fingers as he sat on the bed. Suddenly, he felt an urge. An urge to know something. Something more than this place. He was ... curious. He's never felt this way before.
"Papa Brand, what is it like outside?" He asked as he stared at the back of his lab coat.
Papa Brand turned around and raised an eyebrow at Lamark's question. "Why the sudden curiosity?" He asked.
Lamark's face felt warm. Hot as he turned red. He was nervous. Had he done something wrong ?
That was a mistake. A huge mistake. He knew it, he could see it all over Papa Brand's face. He could see right through Lamark.
[ "Think Out Of The Box. Think Out Of the Box" ]
"I heard those kids down there speak about it. About what it could look like. I didn't understand any of it. This's home, why would they want to leave?" Lamark looked up and swallowed, a big bubble going down his throat.
Papa Brand stared at Lamark for a few seconds. He looked into the air, before continuing to write. He tutted his tongue before responding blatantly back to Lamark.
"Don't mind those kids, 13-2. They're lost and that's why they're down there. They're forgotten and have no use. I brought you back up here because you do. You have skill and we can't let it go to waste." Papa Brand explained as he finished writing. He picked up his recording device.
He walked towards the door then stopped. "You'll need to wait before you can see the outside walls, 13-2. It's different. One day, you'll get picked and have a different life. You'll see.". Papa Brand said, with no particular tone. He left his words to dangle in the air as he shut the door and left.
Lamark's hands began shaking. He had to release all his emotions.
He sat on his bed and crossed his legs.
He held out his hands and concentrated.
He felt his little horns poking out of his head, blue and yellow dust particles storming around his hands.
