"You good with Pizza?" Cody asks as Libby and me return an hour later where he and Chris have a huge box with a pizza big enough to feed a whole army.
"Guess I'll have to be". She rolls her eyes and shoves Cody along as she slides onto the benched seat next to him, leaving me to sit next to Chris.
Cody smirks. "If you got anymore slutty outfits then I'm telling Mom".
"Don't be a dick, otherwise I'll tell her about you being out with Tessa the other night until late". She wiggles her brows.
Chris snorts as he takes a bite into pizza. I'm not hungry if I'm honest and instead I fiddle with my bracelet while my cousins once again go head to head in an argument. "Not hungry?" Chris asks over the war of words.
I shake my head. "Jet lag is kicking in to be honest".
"Oh".
Well this is going well.
Eventually Chris leans over and slaps Cody with a slice of pizza. "Can you guys shut up? Tamsin's jet lagged and doesn't wanna fall asleep to the sound of you two arguing about Cody's girl".
"She's not my girl, dude!" Cody looks embarrassed now.
"Must be if you're out every night with her" I mutter with a little smirk but he hears me and throws me a look.
"Ok then Tam, what about you?"
Great. Now I've done it.
"What about me?"
Cody rips off some pizza with his teeth. "You still playing by the rules or are you a rebel?" Now asking through a mouthful.
Libby rolls her eyes. "Shut up Cody".
He shrugs innocently at this and then looks to me for answer. "Depends on the situation". Is all I can really say. I won't lie, I've never really had a proper boyfriend, nor have I had a proper kiss, except on the cheek. My cousin however? She's typically pretty and has had a couple. Of course I've had all the gory details from her.
Thankfully it's enough to make him not ask anymore and Chris suggests we head back, which we do soon after. Libby calls shotgun again, but it seems that Chris was expecting it anyway, and gets into the back with me.
"How long you here for?" He asks now as it seems my cousins have put their argument behind them and are now singing terribly in the front.
"Most of the summer, my parents have to go home early because of work, but have agreed that I can stay out here longer".
He nods. "Cool..."
"So...you going to college? Or are in college?" I have no idea how the educational system works over here.
He shakes his head. "Nope, not in college, I, erm...I act, so I'm kinda trying to see what comes up. And I've got a job for the fall at a casting agency in New York, so I guess that could open some doors potentially".
"That sounds good, you hoping to make acting a main job?"
"I mean, that's just sheer luck I guess, but it'd be nice to. I'm not holding out hope though. I'm just gonna go with whatever comes up. Small or not".
I nod in agreement. "Well, I hope you have something big come up - you might get one of those walk of fame stars one day in Hollywood".
He laughs at this and I feel my tummy do flips. "I can only dream".
"Sometimes it can become reality though, I guess if you really want it, then you go for it".
"True, but like I said. Comes down to luck at the end of the day".
Cody pulls into the driveway and we get out, Chris walking round to him. "See you tomorrow? Or are you going to see Tessa?" He smirks.
"See you tomorrow, I'll come knock for you". Cody says.
Chris comes over to me. "So, erm...I hope you sleep..." and I see him visibly wince at this. "I mean...never mind". He says and then just walks off.
I watch him go up the driveway next door and then disappear into his house. Libby now joins me. "What'd he say?"
"Nothing, just that it was nice to meet me and stuff. Usual".
She just gives a satisfied 'hm' and a little shrug before he head indoors, finding both sets of parents still catching up with everything - mum bringing loads of photos that she had developed that my aunt hasn't seen.
Cody and Libby go to join them, but I make my excuses and go up to my room, crashing out on the bed and asleep within minutes. When I wake next and glance at the clock, it's 4am. Great. I'm not gonna be going back to sleep now.
Heaving myself from the bed, I begin to get changed out of yesterdays clothes, glancing out of my window to Chris's house. The window across from mine is open, blinds up, then I almost jump as I see him cross it, now catching sight of me.
SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT.
Not only is he going to think I'm perving or something, but there's now the subject of me watching him and I'm in the middle of changing!
So what do I do?
I give him a little wave before I can even stop myself from doing so.
Pathetic.
He looks a little confused but raises his hand to do the same back.
You're half naked, Tam - close the blinds!
I quickly reach for the cord and tug it, the stupid blind now falling sideways and not straight down like I want it to. By the time I glance into Chris's window again, he's thankfully gone, but here I am still stood in my underwear and dying from embarrassment.
If he didn't think I was a loser before then he will do now.
I end up just hiding below the window and crawling across the floor to my suitcase, not wanting to stand up again for fear of Chris seeing again. I have no idea why he's awake at 4am, but then again it could be that he's not even gone to bed yet.
Never the less, by the time I manage to change my clothes and have the courage to stand up again, his blinds are down.
I have no idea how I'm going to make it through the rest of my visit at this point. Especially now that I know his room is directly across to mine.
