I don't see Chris until Friday when we're all off to watch the movie, which I suppose is a good thing considering the whole window staring a few mornings ago. Thankfully I'm past my embarrassment and now Libby chucks me a cropped cardigan from her wardrobe of many clothes.

"Here, this'll look good. I think we're the same size". She says as I put it on and nods her approval.

"Your clothes are nicer than mine".

She scoffs. "Yours are cute, anyway it's not like you need to impress anyone".

The phone rings from downstairs and my Aunt calls up to Libby that some guy is on the line for her. "Ooh! Back soon!" She says and dashes excitedly from the room.

I look at myself in the mirror and just decide that this will have to do. She's right, I don't need to impress anyone, but it'd be nice to have Chris notice. He did the other morning...

Going downstairs, Libby is toying with the cord of the phone while talking to whoever is on the end of it. "It's Jake". She mouths and I roll my eyes. Yep. No doubt that I'll be losing her to him this summer. I know what she's like. "Ok...yeah they won't mind...ok, cya later". She says and hangs up. "So erm...I'm gonna be sitting with Jake later. He got tickets to American Pie too..." and now looks guiltily at me. "That ok? I mean, you'll be with Cody and Chris".

I nod. "It's fine. So...Jake?" I smirk at her as she blushes.

"Yeah...we've been kinda on and off through school, but things seem to be going well. It still feels like a new relationship, y'know what I mean?"

No. I really don't.

"Yeah, er, sure..." I lie and check my watch. "Where's Cody? Shouldn't we be going?"

"Codyyyyyyyyyyyy!" She yells from the bottom of the stairs. "C'MON!"

We hear him moving about and then he jogs down the stairs. "Ok, ok - I'm here".

"She's ditching us for Jake tonight". I rat her out and she throws a rather unimpressed look. I don't care though.

Cody smirks at her. "I'm gonna make sure to throw my popcorn back towards the back row then".

"Loser" Is all she says before the doorbell sounds and Cody goes to answer it, greeting Chris who is there. "Awh and loser 2 is here".

"Shut up Libs or I'll mess your hair up". Chris throws back smoothly before his eyes land on me and suddenly it's like his whole demeanour changes. "Hi..."

Great. This is what it's going to be for the rest of my time here with him. Awkward encounters. "Hi..."

"Nice cardigan..." He says as his eyes trail my body.

"Thanks. I like your erm...face"

FUCK!

"Fac-ial expression". I get out and it's even more of a painful correction. "Anyway lets go, movie - woo!" I punch the air and walk out to the driveway, waiting by Cody's car and hoping that Chris calls shotgun so I'm not sitting next to him again.

Unfortunately Libby calls it and I curse inside, getting in and just looking out of the window so as I don't have to make small talk. The drive is a short one thankfully and once we're inside, I spy Cody looking around while Libby runs off to some good looking guy who has to be Jake.

"So I invited Tessa, hope you guys don't mind..." Cody admits as he comes over with a pretty girl on his arm. "I might erm, go take the back row - well away from Libby though!"

What the actual fuck? They're ditching us for their dates?

"Dude, really?" Chris says and looks back at me. "What about Tam?"

"You're ok sitting with Chris aren't you Tam?" Cody asks, making puppy dog eyes to me in the hopes that I say yes so he can hook up with his girl.

I just nod. "I'm cool...it's fine you just have fun..." before I can even finish, he's turning and heading to the screen, Libby grinning as she passes with Jake. I look to Chris. "You really don't have to sit with me".

He's looking to Cody and Libby. "You do realise that they're pretty much gonna do this to you all summer?"

I sigh. "Yeah, I know...

He looks back to me. "Besides, I'm not the kind to ditch a pretty girl. I'll sit with you if you want me to?"

I bite the inside of my cheek to try and stop the blush from crossing it outside. "I'm not pretty. Not like girls over here. I mean, Libby could be a supermodel". I point out, because she really could.

"The girls round here don't really do much for me anyway". He admits. "We should get going if we wanna catch the movie".

I want to just say 'fuck it, let's leave' them but I don't and we make for the screen. "If they're both gonna be hooking up all summer, then I may as well just leave with my parents in a couple of weeks".

"Shame, because aside from terrorising my brother? I'm gonna have a pretty boring summer too". He eyes me knowingly. "I was looking forward to trying to catch you in the window..."

I groan and cover my face while we sit and wait for the movie to start. "I didn't realise your room was there, or that you'd be a awake at stupid o'clock in the morning.

"And if you thought I was perving, then I really wasn't. I just, kinda couldn't stop looking at you..."

He can't stop looking at me now, let alone the other day.

I shrug. "I guess I could still stay for the duration I'm meant to...depending on what's on offer here".

He grins, but before he can say anything the movie starts, halting our conversation until the end when the lights go up and he looks around for my cousins who are now walking down from the back with Jake and Tessa.

"We gonna grab some food or head back?" Cody asks us.

"I'm going to Jake's so see you guys later". Libby says as they pass.

"Let's just head back". Chris says.

Cody nods. "I'll drop you guys back and then Tess and I are gonna get something to eat. That ok with you both? I know your jet lag's still messing with you, Tam".

I just nod and we make for home, Cody dropping me and Chris off before he leaves once again. "Soooo" I begin. "Thanks again for not ditching me".

He shrugs it off and looks at me "so, guess I'll see you at the window eh?" Laughing nervously before realising I could take it the wrong way. "Not that I'm gonna intentionally be spying on you changing and..."

"I know". I stop him. "Same here, but I guess next time I could leave the blinds open..."

He is gagged for a moment, because then he nods to himself with a small smile. "Can I walk you the whole ten steps to the door?"

I nod and let him. "I had a nice time tonight".  I say, turning back to him.

"Yeah, me too..."

I look around to make sure no one is watching and then lean in, giving him a kiss on the cheek. "See you at the window".

"Yeah, the window". He smiles and doesn't leave until he knows I'm the other side of the door.

My heart is pounding, and I give myself a few moments to calm myself and think about tonight. Yeah - I think I'm in love already.

No one else is home, and so I race upstairs to my room and the window, pulling the blind up.

He's already there...
