'So...' Kaeya watched Diluc carefully 'What brings the hardworking, illustrious Master Diluc here away from his work?'

Diluc just frowned in response. 'Hold your silver tongue, you know I see through it'.

He paused before continuing, 'We need to talk'

He watched his brother hum and turn the skewers over.

'Kaeya'

'Yes'

'I said we need to talk'

'The floor is all yours'

Diluc watched as Kaeya carefully examined a skewer.

'And we will conduct this conversation without you looking at me at all?'

'Well..if you insist!'

Diluc folded his arms and glared at his brother's head, however when Kaeya showed no signs of unrelenting his shoulders sagged and he simply sighed.

'I'm not the best with words-'

'Do you think I should take a poetry class? I heard Venti is teaching..though I must say I feel i'm already rather adept at love poems...or any poems really'

Diluc stared at his brother in disbelief. Kaeya finally turned to him, catching sight of his expression. He sighed.

'There is nothing to talk about' he stated firmly. Diluc shook his head, exasperated 'You know that isn't true! Why won't you see reason-'

'It's not like you ever did'

Kaeya interrupted him again, spinning the skewer stick between his fingers. 'This. This is why we need to talk,' Diluc stated firmly, gesturing between them.

Kaeya rose, pretending to observe his watch, Diluc noted he wasn't wearing one and so grabbed Kaeya and forced the man back down into a sitting position.

'I want to apologise'

Perhaps having a cryo vision had side effects because Kaeya was frozen. Diluc continued, softening the vice like grip he held Kaeya in 'I abandoned you when you needed me most, I abandoned you as my brother and...I..'

He trailed off as his fiery red eyes met ice cold ones.

'You don't need to keep going' Kaeya's voice was firm, he was staring straight ahead.

'We don't need to talk Diluc, maybe once, long ago we should have, but the moments passed, i'm happier and you are too, I don't want to change that'

He smiled, catching Diluc's astonishment, he pointed to Diluc's vision and then tapped his own

'Now come on, surely the symbolism of our visions wasn't lost on you? We're too different. Fire and ice cannot exist in harmony, either you freeze or I burn, you would need to give up everything you believed in for me Diluc, and you're not ready for that'

Diluc attempted to protest but Kaeya silenced him.

'We were brothers once and maybe in another life we won't lose each other. But not in this one Diluc, not in this life'

And this time when he rose Diluc never stopped him and instead watched his brother walk away and he tried, he tried to tell him that they didn't need to be blood related to be brothers, they didn't have to go their separate ways, he could give up everything.

But he didn't, maybe because he knew it wasn't true.

And he watched him walk away
