Kaeya balanced on the roof of the Cat's Tail. He leaned as close as he could to the window of the room Kazuha stayed in. Balancing precariously on the tiles he watched as Kazuha picked up the letter, his excitement grew as he watched Kazuha's reaction.

Ding, ding, ding! right on the money as he always was.

Diluc rubbed his face wearily, he caught Charles observing him worriedly from the corner of his eye. The dark circles that surrounded his eyes had only worsened recently, he knew he must look a sight.

'You can close right?' before Charles could nod Diluc turned and slammed out the tavern.

He sighed in frustration, he was going to kill him. Ever since his interaction with his brother Diluc couldn't sleep, there was a dull ache in his heart and everything felt pointless. He understood his brother's reasoning, Diluc had once tried to kill him, eyes burning with hatred at the limp frozen mess before him, never once fighting back, simply shielding himself. Shielding himself because the one who was meant to shield him was the one he needed shielding from. Once someone who had sworn to protect him.

A child held his wooden sword up, declaring he would thwart any evil that would come his brothers way.

A man drew his sword, furiously declaring death on the evil of a brother that had come his way.

Diluc trudged through the street, thinking of ways he could reach out to his rather obstinate brother. Kaeya had built a wall around himself, blocking access with misleading, sweetened words and solidarity. Diluc knew it would take more than an apology to convince his brother that he didn't harbour ill feelings.

Though Kaeya stayed cordial, almost teasing, there was occasionally times when he let the mask slip, a hint of fear in his eyes, a strain in his smile, a flinch of his hand towards the hilt of his sword.

Every slip stabbed at Diluc but try as he might, every interaction he had with Kaeya had ended with him being even more closed off and horrible to his brother, Diluc had never been the best with words but he found himself wishing he was whenever Kaeya came to visit.

Diluc pulled himself from his thoughts when a sudden movement caught his eye. He stared, mouth gaping in astonishment as he saw Kaeya himself, scaling the Cat's Tail.

'WHAT are you doing' Kaeya wobbled and almost fell straight off the roof, he glanced down to the direction of the sudden voice in surprise, Diluc glared back at him.

'Spying, what does it look like?' He replied, almost casually.

'Get down from there?!' Diluc hissed incredulously. His brother just shook his head 'I'm not done spying yet'

'You'll break your neck and die if you fall!' Kaeya stared at Diluc as if he had grown an extra head 'Don't be so silly? I have an anemo vision, I can easily catch myself' He replied, as if it was obvious and Diluc had just embarrassed himself.

Diluc stared at him in astonishment

'Kaeya you have a Cryo vision?'

The blue haired male stared at him before glancing down at his vision. He let out a quiet 'Oh!' and looked back at Diluc.

'It's late and I've had a little to drink, go away now Diluc, I'm working'

Diluc folded his arms, showing no intention of going away. Kaeya ignored him and continued staring through the window. Diluc glared at his brother, making sure his balance didn't falter.

Kaeya eventually drew away from the window, clearly nothing else was happening, he glanced at Diluc, his eyes sparkling as a new idea formed. 'Diluc?'

'What'
