Two Is Better Than One

I sighed, looking down at my outfit. I was wearing a dress that was black on the upper part and was white on the skirt part, along with a pair of gladiator sandals and a silver hair band in my hair. I didn’t wear heels because I didn’t like heels, even though they were piled up in my closet. I only wore them to very important events, but, because I found it hard to walk in them, I settle with sandals. Besides, I was already 5’6’’ and if I wear heels, I’d be taller than Niall and that would be weird. I told Niall that he shouldn’t take me to a fancy place but he insisted. Sometimes he really does have a thick skull. My phone started ringing as I did the last bits of my hair. I grabbed it, opening the new message.

See ya’

Half an hour later, the doorbell was ringing and I was running down the stairs. As I opened it, it revealed a very dashing Niall with a bouquet of red roses in his arms. He was wearing this nice button up with a blazer. “You look beautiful this evening” Niall grinned as I look down, feeling heat rising in my cheeks.

“Thanks” I mumbled. “You are too” I said and he raised an eyebrow. “You think I’m beautiful?” He asked and my head shot up. “Yes, but in a- I meant- I didn’t mean- It’s just” He raised a hand to stop me from talking, laughing as he did. “I understand and thanks” He grinned, handing me the roses, which I accepted with a smile.

“Phew” I giggled, letting out a sigh of relief. “Shall we head off now?” He asked, offering his hand for me to take. I smiled and flicked off the lights of my house, stepping out of it. Locking the door I looped my arm around Niall’s as he lead me to his car. “I still cannot believe you have a license now” I cackled as we got in his car.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” He asked, feigning hurt. “I just never thought you would gather up the courage to actually do it” I shrugged, grinning. “Does that mean you don’t trust my driving?” He asked, a look of fake hurt still on his face. Rolling my eyes, I chuckled. “Just drive”

“Gladly” He answered, grinning and pulling out of the driveway. Placing the flowers on the dashboard, I leaned back in my seat. “So, where exactly are we going?” I questioned and Niall shrugged. “It’s a French restaurant that I can’t remember the name of because I can’t pronounce it” He answered simply and I laughed, shaking my head at him.

“You’re crazy” I commented. “If by that you mean I’m the most attractive guy on this planet, then yes, I am crazy” He grinned, momentarily gazing at me and flashing me his teeth.

“I still don’t understand why you got braces” I pointed out. “What else do you dislike about me? You might as well tell me now” Niall pouted. “It’s not that I don’t like your braces, it’s just, I found your old teeth….cute.” I said. “It was management’s idea but it was mine too. I didn’t think anyone would like a guy with crooked teeth. Everything has to be perfect” He mumbled the last part as I slightly frowned.

“That’s just it, isn’t it? Everything needs to be perfect, but perfection doesn’t exist in the real world.” I said and Niall smiled slightly. “At least someone understands”
