AnaVillanueva: 🇪🇸 GP w/ @LucasAleg 😎
Ana's POV
Monday morning arrives too quickly, and the buzz from the charity gala still lingers in my mind—especially the unexpected encounter with Lando. But there's no time to dwell on it. The workweek is here, and my schedule is packed.
As soon as I walk into the office, Reyes, my boss, is already waiting with his usual serious expression. "Morning, Ana. Can you come into my office for a moment?"
"Of course," I reply, following him in. I take a seat as he starts speaking.
"New assignment," he says briskly. "You'll be the point person for Lucas Alegria this upcoming election campaign. Son of our biggest sponsor—you know him already, right?"
I nod. Lucas and I go way back to our grad school days. He went into his family's private business while I pursued my passion in politics. We haven't kept in touch, but I know this is a major task—and a high-visibility one at that.
"Lucas trusts you, and you're familiar with the landscape in strategy and visibility for their family," Reyes continues. "This will be easy for you."
"Understood. I've got it," I respond confidently.
"I know his PR team set something up this weekend. You'll attend with him at the Spanish Grand Prix. The Alegrias are one of the biggest sponsors, and it's crucial we're there to network and show support."
"The Spanish Grand Prix?" I repeat, trying not to let my surprise show. Lando invited me, but I turned him down because I had planned to work this weekend.
"Yes," Reyes confirms. "Your presence there with Lucas will subtly signal the family's support for the Administration's bid for re-election next year."
"Alright, I'll make sure everything runs smoothly," I assure him.
"I'm sure you will. Now, get ready for the meeting with Lucas. He should be here any moment."
I leave Reyes's office and return to my desk, mentally preparing for what's ahead. Before long, Lucas arrives, exuding his usual confident charm.
"Ana," he greets me with a warm smile. "It's been a while."
"Lucas," I reply, smiling back. "Good to see you."
"Likewise," he says, looking genuinely pleased. "I hear we'll be working closely for a while."
"Looks like it. I'll be accompanying you during the campaign and at the Grand Prix this weekend," I confirm.
"Perfect," he says, eyes lighting up. "It'll be just like old times."
I chuckle, recalling our grad school days. "Except now, we have a lot more responsibility."
"True," he agrees, grinning. "But I have no doubt we'll handle it."
We spend the next hour discussing the upcoming election campaign, going over strategies and the role Lucas will play. He's eager to contribute and seems to understand the importance of his visibility.
"Those are the main points for the PR plan," I say, wrapping up the briefing.
Lucas nods thoughtfully. "Got it. I'll review everything again later. Thanks for the thorough update, Ana."
"Busy, but exciting times ahead," I comment, smiling.
"I'm actually looking forward to working together on this," he glances at his watch. "But I have another meeting in fifteen minutes. Catch up later?"
"Of course," I say as we part ways, exchanging polite goodbyes.
As he leaves, my thoughts drift to the upcoming weekend. Attending the Grand Prix with Lucas is going to be... interesting, especially if I run into Lando again.
The rest of the week flies by in a blur of meetings and preparations. By Friday morning, we're all set to head to the Spanish Grand Prix. Lucas and I arrive at the circuit, and the atmosphere is electric. The energy is contagious, and despite myself, I'm getting caught up in the excitement.
We settle into our seats in the VIP area, where we'll be spending most of our time. As we mingle with sponsors and important figures, I keep an eye out for Lando, wondering if our paths will cross.
"Ready for an exciting weekend?" Lucas asks, noticing my distraction.
"Absolutely," I reply, forcing a smile. "Let's make the most of it."
The day is packed with meetings and introductions. I keep things professional, making sure Lucas is in the right place at the right time and that we're maximizing our visibility with key figures. But every now and then, when I catch a glimpse of the drivers, my thoughts drift back to Lando.
During a break, Lucas and I decide to take a walk around the paddock. That's when I see him—Lando, surrounded by his team, looking as focused as ever. Our eyes meet for just a moment, and that familiar spark flares up, just like in Positano. Just like at the gala.
"Hey, isn't that Lando?" Lucas asks, following my gaze.
"Yeah," I say, trying to sound casual. "We met at the charity gala last weekend."
"Small world," Lucas comments. "Want to go say hi?"
"Maybe later," I reply, not wanting to mix personal matters with work just yet.
Lucas seems to understand and doesn't press further. We continue our tour, but I can't shake the feeling that this weekend might be more complicated than I expected.
As the day turns into evening, I prepare myself for what's ahead. The Grand Prix is just beginning, and I have a job to do. But somewhere in the back of my mind, the thought of seeing Lando again keeps me on edge.
