AnaVillanueva: Staying in 🧡
Ana's POV:
Zakynthos, Greece. The late afternoon sun casts a warm, golden glow across the villa, and there's a light breeze coming in from the sea. It's the kind of perfect day that makes you forget about the rest of the world. Lando and I are lounging outside, sipping wine as we talk about Mia and Carlos' date.
"Mia said Carlos was such a gentleman the entire time," I tell him, swirling my glass. "He opened every door, pulled out her chair, walked her to her car. She couldn't stop talking about how comfortable it was with him. She said it was one of the best dates she's had in ages."
Lando grins, clearly pleased. "Told you Carlos had the charm. Gentleman when he wants to be. I'm not surprised it went well."
"Yeah," I reply, smiling. "I caught up with Mia after my trip to Germany—it was nice to finally sync our schedules. She seems cautiously optimistic, which is a good sign."
Lando leans back in his chair, adjusting his bucket hat. "Well, I'm glad it worked out. Carlos was talking about it non-stop when we were golfing in Spain."
"I figured as much," I laugh, thinking of how Lando spent his afternoons with Carlos while I was at work. "It's good to hear, though. I just hope Carlos doesn't overthink things."
"He'll be fine," Lando reassures me. "But speaking of things... How are you feeling about the Lucas situation? Any updates?"
I pause, my smile fading slightly as I take a sip of wine. "Lucas hasn't contacted me in weeks, which is a relief. But I'm cautious. I never know what he's got in mind. The video is a good bullet against him, though. Mia and I made copies of it, just in case something happens to the original."
Lando's expression shifts to concern, but I squeeze his hand. "Mia already has everything planned out if it comes to that. We're ready, but honestly, I'd rather not think about it."
He nods, his thumb gently rubbing the back of my hand. "Good. And we're on vacation. No work talk, no Lucas. Deal?"
I smile and lean into him. "Deal. We both need this."
With that promise in the air, we shift the conversation back to lighter topics, leaving work and everything else behind us.
The conversation drifts back to Carlos and Mia. Lando grins, clearly enjoying playing matchmaker. "So, do you think I should wingman Carlos when he gets here? I mean, things went well with Mia, and maybe I can give him a nudge when we go out."
I smirk, shrugging. "That's really up to Carlos. My matchmaking work here is done. They're both adults—I'm stepping back unless one of them specifically asks. Or both, maybe."
Lando raises an eyebrow, then laughs. "You really love having these internal monologues, don't you?"
I roll my eyes playfully. "You love it anyway."
