The first few months back went by pretty smoothly. I have had lots of homework pretty much every day, so I was busy all of the time. James constantly flirts with me, but I just ignore him. I hang out with Alice most of the time when  I am not busy. When Alice is busy, I hang out with Severus. We mostly study and talk about the neighborhood that we both grew up in.

I am beginning to become nervous about the O.W.L.s exams and I constantly worry that I am going to fail.

"For the millionth time! You-are-being-silly!" I was complaining about the exams again and Alice yelled at me to stop. I put down my spoonful of cereal to argue back.

"No I'm not, these exams determine what we study for the rest of our Hogwarts careers!" I argue back defensively. I then take a big bite of toast.

"And we will worry about it when it is time to worry about it. we have only been back for a few weeks and the exams are still months away!"

"But I'm still worried." I say, raising my voice slightly with my mouth full of bread.

"You need a distraction.'' Alice declares decisively. "There is a quidditch game this afternoon, we should go. It is Gryffindor vs. Ravenclaw."

"It's the middle of December, it's freezing outside!"

"Oh, come on! It will take your mind off of your worries." Alice begged.

"Why would I want to sit outside in freezing, snowy weather, to watch a game that I don't care much about!?" I say as I stand up to leave. Alice grabs my sleeve and pulls me back into my seat.

"Because you need a break!" she was right though, i did need a break. I was becoming so stressed that I couldn't think straight.

"Fine, I'll come. But don't expect me to enjoy it." I say bitterly as her face lights up into a big grin.

"Yay! This is gonna be so much fun! You won't regret it!" she said as she wrapped me in a tight hug.

Later that evening, it was time for the quidditch match. I had made sure that I was bundled up with as many layers as possible. I really didn't want to go, but I thought that it would make Alice happy.

"Are you ready to go?" she asked cheerfully as I entered the common room from our dormitory. She had on about as many layers on as I did and was beaming from ear to ear. I smiled at her enthusiasm.

"As ready as I will ever be." I replied while smiling. I finished tying my scarf around my neck as we walked through the portrait hole.

"Is Evans coming to the game!?" Sirius teases while feigning shock. I glare at him slightly. Why is he always around every corner? Remus and Peter are there too but they quietly smile and wave.

"Yes, as a matter of fact, I am." I say proudly.

"Oh, James will be so excited to hear that you came to watch him play!" Sirius teased.

"I am not going to watch him play! I am going because Alice insisted that I need a break from homework!" I almost yelled at him. Alice grabs my shoulder so that I don't start a full argument. I calm down and take a deep breath. Alice and I begin to walk away.

"See you at the match Lily! Remus called out after me, probably hoping that I wasn't too mad.

"He is so irritating!" I say through gritted teeth with my fists clenched.

"Which one?" Alice asks innocently.

"All of them! All four of them! Why are they always around every corner!?" I begin a long rant as we walk towards the quidditch pitch. Alice just listens patiently, which I appreciate and admire about her. The walk to the pitch was long and cold. I wanted to turn around as soon as I walked through the doors, but I didn't.
