Lily POV:

I was released from the hospital the following morning and the Fortescues took me home. My parents were worried stick and they were so relieved that I was okay. Petunia seemed worried as well, she even gave me a hug. There rest of the summer dragged on with nothing exciting to look forward to. I remembered James's little bet with Remus and I grew irritated with them both. I decided to avoid both of then as much as possible when it was time to go back to school. Petunia's boyfriend came over a lot, he is still very unpleasant. One Friday evening, Petunia announced that Vernon had proposed and that she and Vernon were engaged. My parents were thrilled but I was less than impressed. So the rest of the summer was wasted on wedding planning. I didn't enjoy it much. Finally, it was time to go back to Hogwarts. This was the only thing that I was looking forward to so I was packed for days in advance. I gave rushed goodbyes to my parents and quickly ran through the barrier. The scarlet stream engine welcomed me with a short whistle, signaling that we had five minutes to board the train. I wandered around hoping to find Alice, but was disappointed when I found Sirius instead.

"L-l-l-lily!" He shouts in the most annoying way as possible. I turn to face him and lucky for me, James isn't with him.

"What do you want?" I ask sharply. He holds his palms up in defense.

"Easy Evans, I was just wondering how the rest of your summer went?"

"That's none of your business." I say while folding my arms.

"Okay then, we'll have you at least seen James? I can't find him." he asks earnestly.

"No, fortunately I haven't, and I don't want to either. So when you do find him, please tell him to leave me alone." I say quickly before walking away quickly, leaving him no time to reply. I find Alice in a compartment with Frank and Marlene, they ask smile when I enter.

"Hi Lily, how was there rest of your summer?" Alice asks curiously. I just shake my head.

"I can't talk right now, I have prefect duties. I just came by to drop off my stuff. But I will be happy to tell you all about it when I come back." I say quickly and Alice's smile fades.

"Oh yeah, I forgot. Could you please hurry back though?"

"That's my plan." And with that I leave for the prefect compartment. When I get there, everyone is already there, including Remus. I take a glance at him and sit on the other side of the compartment next to the Hufflepuff head boy. Here gives me a subtle frown before the head boy stands up and gives us our assignments. I take mine and leave quickly so that Remus won't be able to catch up with me. I finish my assignment and head to my friends compartment.

"Finally!" Alice exclaims. "Now, how was the rest of your summer?" She asks eagerly.

"Boring, Petunia was as horrible as ever. Her awful boyfriend, Vernon, came over a lot too. Then she got engaged and we wasted the rest of the summer planning a wedding." I say dully.

"That's awful." Marlene says sympathetically.

"Petunia is engaged!?" Alice asks loudly. "How!?" her hands fly to her mouth. "Sorry, that was rude."

"Yeah, you should be careful." Marlene began to speak, but I burst out laughing.

"What is so funny?" Frank asks.

"I was thinking the same thing!" I say as I laugh. I laugh so hard that I get stitches in my side. My friends all join and begin to laugh as well. We spend the rest of the trip laughing and talking about our summers.

When we arrive, we get into our school robes and leave the train. As I step out onto the platform, the cold night air hits my lungs and I cough.

"Are you okay?" Remus asks kindly. I turn to look at him and glare.
