Author's POV:-

Devaansh's heart sank as he saw the mischievous glint in his father's eyes. He glanced over at Ruhanika, who looked equally horrified, and seeing her reaction a smirk appeared on his face.

The guests parted, making way for the pair. Reluctantly, Devaansh made his way to the center of the hall, with a never ending smirk.

Ruhanika approached from the opposite side, her face a mask of reluctance.

As they stood face to face, the orchestra began to play a soft, melodic waltz. Devaansh extended his hand, and after a moment's hesitation, Ruhanika placed her hand in his.

They stepped into the dance, their movements stiff and awkward. The entire room watched, their expressions a mixture of amusement and curiosity.

Devaansh spoke first, his voice low and edged with surprise.

“Did you know about this?” Ruhanika shook her head, her eyes flashing with anger.

“Of course not. If I had, I would have made sure I was 'sick' tonight.” He couldn't help but smirk at her response.

“Typical. Always ready to run away.” Ruhanika glared at him.

“And you….” She was saying but he twirled her around the dance floor, their words sharp but their movements gradually becoming more fluid.

The music swelled, and despite their mutual disdain, they couldn't deny the synchronicity in their steps.

“Umm….. What were you doing in Rajasthan that day?” He asked about the thing that was bothering him for days.

“I was that personal issue.” She said with a smirk confusing him.

“You will know soon.” She continued after seeing him confused and he nodded.

“Can you give me your phone number?” After some time he asked her.

“Number my foot.” Saying that she stepped on his foot.

“Ouch” His expression changed in an instant, she smiled looking at his expression.

“Why do you hate me so much?” Devaansh asked suddenly, his voice softer, though still guarded.

Ruhanika hesitated, her gaze dropping for a moment before meeting his.

“Who said that I hate you?” She asked looking deep in his eyes.

Devaansh was taken aback by the bold honesty in her words. For the first time, he saw a glimpse of vulnerability in Ruhanika, and it unsettled him.

“I didn't realize…” he began, but she cut him off.

“Of course, you didn't. Because you're too wrapped up in yourself to notice how you affect others.”

“Do I really affect you?” He asked but the music reached a crescendo, and they were forced into a series of intricate steps that required their full attention.

As they moved in perfect harmony, Devaansh couldn't help but reflect on her words.

He was feeling like he won the war by himself just by her one statement.

As the dance drew to a close, they found themselves standing close, their breaths mingling.

For a moment, the animosity between them faded, replaced by an unspoken understanding.

The applause from the audience broke the spell, and they stepped apart, their expressions unreadable.

The sight of everyone dancing together, their faces lit with joy and camaraderie, was a testament to the close-knit relationships that had been forged over the years.
