It's night time and everyone is sleeping after having their dinner but one person isn't.
Devaansh stands at the edge of the pool. The stars shimmer above, casting their reflections on the still, clear water.
The pool itself seems to exude a silent invitation, the deep blues of its waters mirroring the night sky.
All is calm, yet a sense of anticipation hangs in the air. Tonight, Devaansh is here for a very specific purpose to help Ruhanika, finally conquer her fear and learn to swim.
He knew that if she were to learn, it had to be in a setting that felt safe and private, away from the eyes of others.
That’s why he chose this particular night. The house is quiet, everyone fast asleep. The moon is high in the sky, bathing everything in a soft, silver glow.
The night air is cool, but not cold, though Devaansh, knowing that Ruhanika is sensitive to cold and she will be uncomfortable in the cool water, has already taken steps to warm the pool.
He walks slowly along the edge of the water, his thoughts steady and focused. His affinity with nature allows him to manipulate the elements in small, subtle ways.
As he kneels by the pool, he extends his hand over the surface of the water. His eyes close briefly, and he begins to concentrate.
His fingertips begin to glow faintly, a warm, soft light emanating from them. Slowly, the temperature of the water begins to rise.
The chill dissipates, replaced by a gentle warmth. The water steams slightly in the cool night air, its surface rippling gently as the heat spreads throughout.
“What are you doing here at this time?” Out of nowhere Ruhanika asked, making Devaansh a little startled.
“Warming water.” He answered looking at her with a smile.
“Why?”
“Because we are learning how to swim.” He said and wrapped his arms around her waist looking deep in her eyes.
“Oh no.” She exclaimed with a horrified look.
“Oh yes!” He said with the same expression but smiled looking at her pout and peaked her lips lightly making her smile at him.
Devaansh walked towards the pool and bent down to check the water. The temperature was perfect so he turned towards her and smiled.
Satisfied, Devaansh stands and walks over to where Ruhanika is standing again, just beyond the pool's edge.
There’s a look of apprehension in her eyes, but also determination. She trusts Devaansh, and she knows that if anyone can help her conquer this fear, it’s him.
“Are you ready?” He asks, his voice low and soothing.
There’s no pressure in his tone, only encouragement. He knows this is a big step for her, and he wants her to feel in control.
Ruhanika takes a deep breath, her eyes flicking toward the pool and then back to Devaansh. She nods, though there’s a tremor in her voice when she speaks.
“I’m not sure,” she admits. “But I want to try.”
“That’s all that matters. Take your time. We’re in no rush.” Devaansh smiles gently.
With that, he leads her toward the pool, walking slowly, his steps deliberate.
He takes off his slippers and steps into the water first, allowing her to see that the water is warm, comforting, and nothing to fear.
