The alarm clock buzzed with a persistent hum, pulling me from the laptop's screen. It was 5 PM, and the golden rays of the evening sun filtered through the thin curtains, casting a warm glow across the room.
Today was no ordinary day; it was the day of the prestigious business award function, an event that I had been eagerly anticipating for weeks. I lay my head on the chair for a few moments, collecting my thoughts and allowing the significance of the day to sink in.
With a deep breath, I swung my legs and planted my feet firmly on the soft carpet. The room was still, save for the gentle ticking of the clock on the wall. I could hear the faint sounds of birds chirping outside.
I stood up and stretched, feeling the familiar pop of my joints. I walked to the window and pulled back the curtains, revealing a brilliant orange sky. The weather was perfect, a good omen for the night ahead.
I made my way to the bathroom, the cool tiles underfoot waking me up further. I splashed my face with cold water and looked at my reflection in the mirror.
The man staring back at me looked determined, ready to seize the night. I brushed my teeth with meticulous care, the minty freshness invigorating my senses. After a quick shower, I wrapped myself in a plush towel and headed back to the bedroom.
A chuckle escaped my mouth when I remembered how she behaved when I asked for the baby. That was a childish act, but I don't know why I found it adorable and that never ending smile of hers, ohh god she is going to be the death of me some day.
As I dressed, I chose my outfit carefully. The jet black suit I had picked out the night before hung neatly on the closet door. It was a tailored masterpiece, perfectly fitted to my frame.
I slipped on a crisp white shirt, buttoning it up with deliberate precision. The silk tie I chose was also black, adding a touch of elegance to my ensemble.
Finally, I donned the suit jacket, smoothing out any wrinkles. I felt a sense of pride as I looked in the mirror, knowing I'm looking the part for the momentous occasion.
When I came downstairs it was already 6:30 and mostly everyone was ready to go except the girls. They will take time to get ready of course.
"Mom, where is the girl gang? We have to be there at 7." I asked, as she came out of the kitchen with Ruhanika's mom and served everyone tea and lastly handed me my coffee that I really needed right now.
"They will be here in some time." She said with a smile and I nodded.

"Ruhi, are you ready yet?" Samriddhi's voice called out from the room.
"Almost, Sam! Just need to finish my makeup." I replied, carefully applying a final touch of mascara.
