Fai was in her apartment, scrolling on her phone while waiting to go to work in the afternoon. Suddenly she heard a loud scream coming from her neighbor. She quickly realized that it was Tan's voice. He could have gotten injured, or worse, who could possibly know? And worst of all, what if Tan was in trouble, and Fang discovered that she didn't do anything to help him?
She rushed to the balcony, knowing that it would have allowed her a clear view of the inside of the neighbor's apartment. When she got there, she looked for a while, but she couldn't see anyone. Fai called Tan's name a few times, but thankfully Tan finally appeared. He didn't imagine the reason of that call, but he thought the same as Fai, what would have Fang thought if he knew that Tan didn't help her despite her calling him?
"How may I help you?" Tan asked.
"I should ask you the same thing, I heard a very loud scream, I feared that something bad could have happened to you. Are you alright?" Fai replied. Tan realized his mistake. To be fair, he didn't think he screamed that loud, but if she got so worried, then he had to reason not to trust her.
"I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I just got an email from one of the companies I contacted for a work yesterday. They want me to come tomorrow for an interview and I was so happy about it" Tan replied.
"Oh, I thought you already had a job, oh... sorry, I didn't mean to offend you" Fai apologized immediately, but Tan didn't really know if he was supposed to take the apology seriously or if she really wanted to make him feel useless.
"It's ok, it would have been worse to know that you were aware of all the little details of our life, right? I have to go now, my student is about to arrive" Tan replied and went away before she could add anything that could hurt him, no matter if on purpose or not.
Several hours later, Fang came back. He found Tan on the couch, staring into the void with a frustrated expression. Fang sat down, he was very tired after that day at the hospital and he would have gladly avoided a long and detailed description on how Fai probably made something completely normal that Tan, for some reason, interpreted wrongly.
"I'm sure that whatever she did, it wasn't on purpose" Fang started.
"Whom are you talking about?" Tan asked confused.
"Aren't you mad at Fai?"
"No, she even came because she thought I was injured after I screamed. Oh right, a company accepted to interview me. The problem is that Akk canceled the lesson"
"Akk? Oh right, your student. Well, you don't have to worry too much about them"
"I know it isn't a big deal, but since Fai was surprised that I still don't have a job, I hoped that seeing me having a student could have made her change her mind. But that handsome bastard didn't come..." Tan explained.
"Handsome bastard? It is the first time I hear you calling someone else handsome. I thought you used that adjective only with me... should I get jealous?" Fang said chuckling.
