POV: Olivia
"Damn..." I said aloud as I ended the call and rubbed my temples methodically.
I didn't know what I should do.
Go?
Don't?
I just found out from Jess that Bree was sick and she hasn't called anyone for a few days. She was worried about her, but couldn't go over there because she was swamped with work, so she called me to see if I could go over there.
"¡Maldita sea! ¿Por qué ahora? Si no voy me sentiré tan jodidamente culpable..." I rambled as I paced back and forth in my room.
(Dammit! Why now? If I don't go I'll feel so fucking guilty...)
Fuck it...
I stopped pacing around my room, threw on my leather jacket, and picked up the keys for the car so I could go over there and see how she was.
I needed to know.
I might've been pissed at Bree, but she was still my best friend, the woman I loved, and I would lose my shit if something happened to her.
Just as I was about to leave, I heard my sister call out to me from the living room.
"Maña? Where are you going? You know Mamá told you to stay and clean up around the house while she ran to the store for dinner tonight!" Isabella called out.
"Well! She'll just have to wait! Bree is sick and she needs help! And you know how much Mamá likes Bree. I'm sure she'll understand." I said back.
"Okay..." Isabella replied unconvincingly.
I rolled my eyes at my little sister's tone.
She worries too much...
But... that's family, I guess...
Annoying, but I love them.
With that out of the way, I opened the front door and headed out to the car so I could be on my way.
Driving to Bree's didn't take long. She lived 10 minutes away in the only apartment complex in the town. We lived in a small town, so there wasn't a need for more than one. That didn't apply to hotels because our town thrived on the tourists that came through here when it was in-season.
So, I took a detour before arriving and stopped to pick up some extra soup that Mamá had leftover from the diner and a few other medical supplies that could help Bree fight off her sickness. I wasn't sure if she would need or want them, but... it felt like the right thing to do, regardless.
I wouldn't be me if I didn't do it...
And...
Who was I fucking kidding?
I wanted to do this for her.
I needed to...
I really missed Bree...
When I arrived at Bree's apartment complex and parked my car, I couldn't help but feel a little nervous. We hadn't spoken to each other since we got all up in each other's faces and bitched. I really didn't know what to expect when she opened the door and saw my face. I took a deep breath, grabbed the bags and exited my car.
I made my way up the familiar path to her apartment door, and nervously knocked on it. I waited patiently for her to open up, and though it took a little longer than I expected, I understood why... Or maybe I was just an idiot. She wasn't feeling well, and it made sense that she was a little slower than usual. Not too soon after knocking, I started to hear movement behind the door, and... it was getting closer.
