The days following my confrontation with Aziel were tense, but I managed to keep my distance. Any time Aziel and Constance came to the restaurant, I would plead with Marisol to go in place of me anytime they requested for the chef of the day. I knew Constance was doing it on purpose but I was not going to giver her that satisfaction.
Saturday was my normal day off work and I had made plans to treat myself to a spa with some friends at the north-side.
I was already packing my things for the spa when I felt the familiar stirrings in my abdomen.
"Oh, crap." I doubled in pains from my heat. The heat comes every three months after you have met your mate and this was my first heat of the season.
The special injection to reduce pheromone perfuming and pain was my only hope of making it through the heat without incident but It was kept at the packhouse, and I dreaded the thought of sneaking in to get it. But I had no choice. I couldn't risk the chaos my pheromones would cause, especially not with Aziel nearby.
Late at night, when the packhouse was mostly deserted, I made my move.
The air was cool which helped sooth the pain a little bit as I crept through the forest. My heart pounded in my chest as I slipped into the packhouse and moved silently through the halls towards the infirmary.
The infirmary was quiet so I found the injection easily, my hands shaking as I prepared it. Just as I was about to administer it, I heard footsteps. Panic surged through me, and I hastily hid the syringe in my bag, slipping out of the infirmary.
I was almost to the door when I bumped into a solid wall of muscle. I looked up, my heart sinking as I met Aziel's piercing blue eyes. His expression shifted from surprise to confusion as his gaze swept over me.
"Alora," he said, his voice a low growl. "What are you doing here?"
"I... I needed something from the infirmary," I stammered, trying to sidestep him.
His nostrils flared, and I knew he could smell my pheromones. I began perfuming a lot when he stepped closer to me. Rejected or not, a part of me was still tied to him and him to me.
He stepped ever closer to me, our chest almost touching. His eyes darkened with a hunger that sent a shiver down my spine.
"You're in heat," he said, his voice thick with desire.
I tried to move past him, but he grabbed my arm, his grip like iron. "Aziel, let me go. I need to get out of here."
But he wasn't listening. His eyes were glazed with lust and flickering from man to wolf, and before I could protest further, he pulled me into a nearby room. The door slammed shut behind us, and he pressed me against it, his body hot and insistent against mine.
"Aziel, please," I whispered, but my words were lost as his lips crushed mine. The kiss was fierce, almost desperate, and I felt myself responding despite my better judgment.
His hands roamed my body, igniting a fire in their wake. I melted into him, my own desires overpowering my rational mind. He lifted me effortlessly, carrying me to the bed and laying me down with a gentleness that belied the urgency of his actions.
Our clothes were discarded in a frenzy, and when his soft lips touch mine, it felt like I died and went to heaven. It felt beyond amazing, our lips moved in sync as Aziel bit my lips for entrance which I gladly gave him.
Finally he was inside me, filling the emptiness I hadn't realized was there. The room echoed with our mingled breaths and moans, the intensity of our coupling unlike anything I'd ever experienced. It was raw, primal, and for a moment, I let myself get lost in it, pretending that this was where I belonged.
"Az, faster... Please." I moaned in his ear. He went faster bringing us to our climax as we came together. We both panted heavily as he dropped my legs on the bed.
But reality crashed back down as the passion ebbed. Aziel rolled off me, his chest heaving, and stared at the ceiling, his expression hardening. "This was a mistake," he said, his voice cold.
I sat up, pulling the sheet around me. "Aziel—"
"No Alora, no. I am going to mate with Constance."
"But..."
"Get out," he interrupted, his tone brooking no argument. "Leave. Now."
His words were like a slap to the face. I gathered my clothes, my hands trembling, and dressed quickly. As I left the room, I glanced back at him, but he wouldn't meet my eyes. I felt a sharp pain in my chest.
My perfuming had reduced and my heat pains were gone. It was stupid of me to give in to him. He took advantage of my heat so satisfy himself like the selfish man he was.
Back at my cabin, I moved like a woman possessed. I packed my belongings, shoving clothes into my bag with a sense of urgency. I couldn't stay here any longer. The pack, the restaurant, Aziel – it was all too much. I had to leave, to find a place where I could start over without the constant pain of rejection and heartache.
I didn't wait for the rising of the sun, I couldn't spend one more minute there. I threw my bag in the backseat and took one last look at the cabin. It had been a place of refuge, but now it felt like a prison. With a deep breath, I started the car and drove to the Eastside.
I didn't know where I was going exactly, I knew the Packs at the Eastside were strongly traditional but that was the only cardinal I could go. The Westside was a no area, that was the area of the Royals and the High Council.
So the Eastside I went.
