Two more months into my pregnancy, I had grown accustomed to the routine of sedatives and Sebastian's constant vigilance. Lila had been giving me a sedative each time the pains from Aziel and Constance's mating struck,  helping to dull the agony and keep me stable. But I was too a coward to go to my old pack and accept the rejection because I was still scared of Aziel, and not with the baby. The sedatives helped, but they left me feeling groggy.

"How are you feeling today, Alora?" Lila asked one morning as she handed me a small vial.

"Like I'm floating," I replied with a half-hearted smile. "But at least the pain isn't unbearable."

"You have to eventually stop the sedatives Alora. Even if your baby is an Alpha and is strong, it isn't good for your body at this vulnerable state."

"I agree with Lila, Ora. You can't keep using sedatives all the time. Aziel doesn't know how you are feeling or that it is hurting you this bad, or anything about you."

Sebastian was always nearby, his protective nature growing stronger each day. We had grown even closer during this time, our bond deepening as he supported me through the challenges of my pregnancy.

"I don't want to go just yet, I need time, not when the baby is on the way."

He sighed. "You need to rest,"

"But I'm becoming lazy," I complained, felling my frustration hitting its peak from my emotional imbalance. "I'm not allowed to do anything, not even walk down the stairs. I don't want to be cooped up here for the next three months."

"You're not lazy, Ora," he insisted. "You're pregnant with an Alpha's pup. You need to conserve your strength."

Without allowing me to argue, he kissed my forehead and left with Lila.

"Kill-sport." I grumbled.

I decided to take matters into my own hands. I carefully made my way to the bottom of the stairs, listening to Elias and Sebastian's discussion. But as I descended, my foot slipped on the third step, and I nearly tumbled. I shrieked and held the railing with all my might.

"Ora!" Sebastian's voice boomed as he rushed to my side, catching me just in time. His eyes blazed as he helped my to my feet.

"I'm fine, really," I tried to reassure him, but his expression said otherwise.

"You could have hurt yourself or the baby. You could have hit your head or something. I told you not to come down on your own Alora!" Anytime he called my name fully, it was trouble.

"Seb, calm down. She's is alright."

"Don't you dare tell me that Elias, she almost fell. Goddammit."

Sebastian was extremely angry, I had never seen him this angry ever. Without a word, he shifted into a large white wolf, a sight that always took my breath away, only that his anger triggered the shift.

He growled menacingly at anyone who dared to come close, his protective instincts in overdrive. No one, not even Elias, dared to approach as he circled me.

"Sebastian, it's okay," I whispered, reaching out to touch his soft fur.

"It's Eden, his wolf. Touch the back of his ears, he will calm down from your touch."

I did as told. He looked up at me, his eyes filled with worry. He slowly shifted back to his human state, naked as the day he was born. Nudity was not uncommon amongst us.

"You could have hurt yourself," he said, his voice strained. "You need to be more careful."

"I know Seb, I'm sorry. I will be more care, I promise. I just don't want to feel useless."
