End of year 1 has gone by quickly. Ravenclaw got second in the Quidditch Finals, I passed all my exams, we also got second for the House Cup, and I enjoyed my time with my friends before everyone had to pack their trunks and bags.
I sat in a train compartment with my friends and started to work on my homework. I wanted to get it all done, that way I can spend more time with my family and travel more. When the train arrives at the station 6 hours later, both of my parents are waiting for me on the platform.
I jump out and give them a big hug. They both help me with my luggage. Shadow is told to fly home. Owls don't like taking the Floo Network. Kiada is snuggled in my arms and her tail is wrapped around my waist to keep her hold on me. I floo home with Mom first and then Dad floos home a few seconds after us.
I put away all my stuff and continue to finish my assignments. I get them all completed after having Dinner and right before I needed to go to bed.
A week after arriving home from school, Dad and I head to Diagon Alley to get me my new books and stock up on Potion supplies. It's best to go a month early before other students come and get their school supplies. Dad wants to buy some new quills, ink, and more parchment for work. While he heads inside of a building, he allows me to go to the Apothecary to restock my Potion ingredients.
The inside of the Apothecary has so many smells. Ranging from sweet to disgusting to odd, and to others that I can't place. I also wanted to buy my own mortar and pestle instead of using the schools' ones. I stand at the counter waiting for the owner to come back from where he is.
As I'm standing there, looking around at the shelves nearby, I see someone all dressed in black looking at some Gillyweed. I wonder who it is (singing it in my head). I walk up to 'him' and tap their arm. "Hello Professor Snape," I say quietly. The professor turns towards me and answers me, "Good afternoon Ms. Krum. What brings you on a fine Thursday afternoon?" I explain that I'm getting more potion ingredients and books for my second year.
For the rest of the Summer before school (about a month and a half), I had gone camping with my family in Sweden, I head to Moscow to visit my Grandparents from my Dad's side of the family, I spend a lot of time with my Mom's side of family in America. Waterparks, amusement parks, national monuments, and national parks. My cousins taught me how to surf in the Gulf of Mexico. They live on the coast of Texas. I arrive home to pack up my trunk and bags with my new books and other supplies.
On the train, I meet up with my friends. I pull out my newly bought iPod my cousins bought for me, so I can listen to music that's popular in their country and in mine. My friends and I spent time talking about our Summer and what we did.
The trolley witch comes by half way on the trip, offering us to buy something. Juliet buys a lot of candy and I don't get any. Sometime later, probably 30 minutes, Juliet falls in a sugar coma. I open my second year potions book, turn on my music, and eat a plum I had brought. Shadow is flying to Hogwarts and Kiada is resting in one of my bags. Once plum is gone, I head to bathroom to change into my robes because I didn't want to wait in a line when we are nearing Hogwarts. After that's done, I walk back to our compartment and notice that teachers are walking down the train checking on students and to let them know how much time we have left till we reach home.
I lay out a small blanket from one of my bags onto the floor and lay myself down on it. I prop my head off with my arms to read my potions book. Our compartment door opens and I'm the only one who notices the opening door. Professor Snape stands in the doorway and whispers, "Half an hour left. Let your friends know to put on their robes and pack their stuff up." He leaves and heads toward the back of the train where other compartments are.
I wake up Juliet and the others and let them know what Snape had said. We leave our luggage out on the platform and walk down the path toward the horseless carriages. The sun is setting over the lake and it is very pretty.
The sorting ceremony was shorter than it was last year. This year there was 7 Slytherins, 9 Hufflepuffs, 8 Gryffindors, and 8 Ravenclaws. This one girl, Olivia Beratona, was sorted into my house, and boy was she shy.
Usually Ravenclaws don't mind sitting with one another, but this year, no one wanted to have Olivia sit next to them. So, I wave my hand, gesturing to Olivia, for her to sit next to me. I passed her several dishes that she pointed to and helped her spoon some onto her plate. Chicken salad, potato, rice, and a glass of pumpkin juice. I also poured a glass of water for her just in case she didn't like the juice.
She takes her first bite and sighs. "That good huh?" I ask Olivia. Olivia nods her head and leans against me. I spoon myself beef and carrot stew with a couple pieces of sourdough slices. I wrap my arm around her while we eat and enjoy our meal. Dinner vanishes and dessert appears. Olivia is shocked. Olivia points at a pastry that has honey and nuts on it. Turns out it was Baklava. It was very, very good.
All the first years are in shock, even the Purebloods and some of the Halfbloods. Dumbledore stands up from his spot at the head table and quiets us down. He congrats the firsties of their sorting and has the Prefects of each house to take their new students to their Common Rooms.
I gently nudged Olivia to follow the Prefects. I quickly follow Juliet and my other peers to the Common Room, answer the riddle for our password, and head to my room to unpack. My room is the same as last year. Turns out the Ravenclaw Tower had changed a bit. Every year is on whatever level connected to the staircase. So, year 1 = level 1, year 2 = level 2, and so on. When I said my room is the same as last year, it means that everyone as the same amount of space for their rooms, same goes for the bathrooms. The rooms move onto the next level depending on what year they're in. Those who graduate, their rooms go to the first years. Our rooms just basically cycle through every year.
I head downstairs after unpacking, letting Shadow go to the Owlery, and letting Kiada to ride on my shoulder. She is getting bigger. To make herself a little bit lighter, she opens her wings, loops her tail around my arm, and lets herself glide when I walk.
Our Prefects and the firsties come into the Common Room. Our head of house, Flitwick comes in and goes over house rules and schedules. When that's done, I find Olivia and help her set up her room and to unpack her stuff. Turns out she has a pet cat named Snowflake. A mix of Kneazle and a Persian. Very fluffy. She has very light blue eyes.
I allow the firsties to gently pet Kiada. They go one at a time though (Kiada hates when groups of people surround her). I head upstairs after saying 'goodnight' to everyone. I get changed in pjs, put some lavender lotion on Kiada, put some raspberry lotion on myself, and open the window slightly to allow Shadow come in whenever she wants to. Kiada and I burrow ourselves under my covers and head to sleep.
