I sighed and walked down the dimly lit hallway. I was walking much better now that Recovery Girl fixed me up. She's so sweet. I love her.
I saw Bakugo in the hallway, so I walked up to him. I was about to say something when he grabbed me and pinned me against the wall. He covered my mouth with his hand.
I shoved his hand away. I was about to say something, but Bakugo stopped me. He put a finger up to his mouth, telling me to be quiet.
I raised an eyebrow, but I never made a noise. I heard two heartbeats close by. Was he listening in on a conversation? Ok, Sherlock Holmes.
"You brought me here. Now what?" Midoriya!? Who is he talking to?
"We should probably eat soon. The cafeterias gonna be busy. Don't you think?" I heard Midoriya's heartbeat grow faster. Was he nervous? Was he... scared? By who?
"I was overwhelmed." Todoroki!? Midoriya is nervous because of him? The guy that carried me all the way to Recovery Girl? The guy that worships cold soba? The guy Maho has a crush on? The- ok, I need to stop.
"And it made me break the promise I made to myself a long time ago." Todoroki continued.
"Aizawa and Kaminari... Yayarozu and Tokoyami... Uraraka... none of them felt it. In that moment, I was the only one who could sense you true power." No. I heard it. That counts.
"It reminded me of something... experiencing All Might's quirk." Where is he going with this?
"Oh, yeah? Okay... is that all?" Midoriya asked nervously.
"I'm saying... the power coming from you felt the same as All Might's." Midoriya gasped at Todoroki's statement. Oh shit.
"Midoriya, tell me. Are you really All Might's secret love child or something?" I bit my lip, trying to hold back my laughter. I gripped onto Bakugo's gym shirt. What in the kdrama is this?
Bakugo leaned against me. His breathing changed up. I think he was holding back laughter as well. This was too good, bro. I can't. I leaned my head into Bakugo's shoulder.
"Well, are you?" Todoroki asked again.
"No, no way- that not it at all. But I guess even if I was, I'd totally say I wasn't, so you probably won't believe me no matter what, I bet. Anyway, I promise, you've got the wrong idea." Midoriya said, panicking.
"And... why would you even think that about me?" Midoriya asked.
"'That's not it at all' is interesting wording. It suggests there is something between you two that you're not supposed to talk about." Todoroki ate him up. He literally left him speechless. This gave me a lot to think about.
"My father is the hero Endeavor. You must've heard of him. Which means you're aware that he's the number two hero." Why are you flexing over someone who doesn't have a dad?
I glanced at Bakugo. He noticed and looked down at me. I didn't realize how close we were until now. I blushed and pushed him away, slightly. He created the distance I needed.
"So if you're connected to the number one hero, All Might, in some way... that would mean... that I have even more reason to beat you." Damn.
"My old man is ambitious. He aims for the top. He used his power to make a name for himself as a hero. But he was never able to best All Might, so the Symbol of Peace is living proof of his failure. He's still at it, though, trying to take down All Might. One way or another." Your dad sounds like he needs to go to therapy.
"I'm not really sure what you're getting at. What are you trying to tell me, Todoroki?" Midoriya asked.
"Have you ever heard of quirk marriages?" Todoroki asked. Where is this music coming from?
"They became a problem in the first few generations after superpowers became widespread. There were those who sought out potential mates solely with the intention of creating powerful children." Does seriously no one hear this?
"Many people were forced into relationships. They were simply viewed as old-fashioned arranged marriages. But, clearly, it was unethical. My father has not only a rich history of accomplishments but plenty of money to throw at his problems." Oh shit.
"He bought my mother's relatives to get his hands on her quirk. And now he's raising me to usurp All Might. It's so annoying. I refuse to be a tool for that scumbag." You tell him! I will admit I started tearing up a bit.
"In every memory of my mother... I only see her crying. I remember she called my left side unbearable before she poured boiling water on my face." Todoroki covered his scar with his hand. Stop, someone give this man a hug.
"The reason I picked a fight with you was to show my old man what I was capable of doing. Without having to rely on his damned fire quirk. You see, I'm going to show him that I reject his power, and I can take first place without using it." Todoroki said confidently. I glanced at Bakugo. He was frowning.
Todoroki started to walk away. "You're obviously connected to All Might. Even if you won't tell me about it. But no matter how fiercely you come at me in the future, I will defeat you using only my right side. I can assure you of that." He said before walking away completely.
I pushed past Bakugo as I heard Midoriya walking away, too. I don't need to hear the rest of this conversation. It doesn't feel right. I know I shouldn't have stayed, but I'll feel even more guilty if I stay.
I ran down the hall and went around to another exit. I left the building and headed toward the cafeteria.
After I ate lunch, I walked outside back onto the pathway. I saw Todoroki walking alone and rushed over to him.
"Todoroki!" I called out to him. He stopped walking and turned around. I opened my arms and hugged his waist, burying my face in his chest.
"Aizawa?" He said, confused. "What are you doing?"
"Giving you a hug." I sniffled, hugging him tighter. He wrapped his arms around my waist.
"I don't know what this is for, but you seem like you need it." He said.
Yeah.. sure. It's totally for me, idiot.
