Waluigi - From Rock Bottom to Among the Stars

Chapter 3- Peach Gardens

Waluigi immediately slammed his foot on the accelerator. He was already considerably behind the rest of the field thanks to his awe of the space woman so he could not afford to waste any more time. The only way he could catch up now was to get lucky with items and drift until his tyres ripped up onto the track. He immediately grabbed an item box- a star. For once he actually had some luck on his side as his skill, combined with item luck but mainly his skill, got him up to 5th position by the halfway point of lap 2. Yet there was still no sign of the space lady, perhaps she was- 

"Wah!" Waluigi screamed as he nearly collided head on with a rogue chain chomp. He needed to keep his concentration high or else he would be back in his usual position of 12th. He lunged for another item box and to his delight he got a mushroom. Yes, a bland and boring mushroom, nothing special. 

Except it was special.

Waluigi was able to dash across a huge section of grass and with that he leapt up into third place as the final lap began. He could see the top two: the space lady and Luigi. Great. Luigi was going to win again wasn't he? Waluigi could not let that happen. Every turn he ensured he took the tightest line possible and got a mega drift boost, desperately trying to catch up with Luigi in second.

Then he got it. 

A red shell.

Waluigi wasted no time in launching the red destruction machine at his enemy and he did it. He actually hit him and was up into second. "Ha! Too bad loser! Its Waluigi time!!!" he shouted with glee at the green plumber. However the race was not over yet. As he prepared to glide over the chain chomp pit below, he obtained a bob omb from the next item box. The space lady was in range. At last he could take the win. However, for the first time in this race, his mind wasn't on her. Instead, it was on the giant Luigi sculpture up ahead. 

"That punk thinks he has it rough when he has things like that. "WALUIGI SHOW HIM ROUGH!!!!"

With no hesitation Waluigi hurtled the tiny bob omb towards the imposing sculpture. Waluigi cackled with delight. At last he could feast on the despair of the green loser. At last he could achieve something satisfactory. 

Sadly one of the few moments of happiness in Waluigi's life lasted a grand total of 5 seconds. Rather than actually put the bob omb to use, Waluigi had left himself vulnerable. While he was able to overtake the space lady at the next turn since she had not seen a stray banana, the statue did not collapse like he had hoped. ah well, at least he was about to win. Waluigi navigated the final turn. The finish line was rapidly approaching. He was going to do it.

He was not going to do it.

Out of nowhere, he had lost control of the car. Just yards from the finish line. To his horror, Luigi darted past him as the crowd erupted in delight. It was easy to mistake the noise for Grumble Volcano. He could not believe it. his first ever win was snatched from him by the person he had hated all his life.

If only he had kept hold of the bob omb.
