Breeh's Pov
Leaving the cozy warmth of the café, Jisoo and I strolled down the bustling streets of Seoul. The city was alive with energy, the sounds of laughter, conversation, and the occasional honking of car horns filling the air. I glanced at Jisoo, curiosity gnawing at me, the question I'd been holding back finally slipping out. "What do you think about this engagement between Hae-in and Taehyung?" I tried to keep my tone casual, but my anxiety bled through.
Jisoo shrugged, a hint of disdain flashing in her eyes. "Honestly, Breeh, I don't have much interest in someone like Taehyung. He's a jerk, whether people agree or not. But to get better, you can't look down upon others, even if it's someone like him." She paused, then added, "As for the interaction between him and Hae-in, I didn't put much thought into it. It would just create unnecessary mental tension."
I nodded, processing her words. Jisoo was right; dwelling on Taehyung's engagement wouldn't help me. Besides, I had enough on my plate without adding more complications.
The wedding of Jennie's cousin was a whirlwind of joy and celebration. The venue was adorned with twinkling fairy lights, cascading floral arrangements, and an air of festivity. Despite the happiness surrounding me, I found my thoughts drifting back to my own family and the unresolved issues I had left behind.
After the wedding, I decided to head back to my house, craving some quality time with my family. As I stepped out into the cool evening air, I called for a cab. The city lights blurred past as I sank into the backseat, the hum of the engine soothing my restless mind. Just as I was beginning to relax, my phone buzzed with a message. It was from Jimin. A smile crept onto my face as I read his text:
"Hey Breeh, I wanted to invite you to a high-profile event tonight. It could be beneficial for us. Let me know if you can make it. I'll pick you up. - Jimin"
I knew Jimin well enough by now to recognize that he was trying to set up a meeting with me. His efforts were always so thoughtful, and I found his persistence endearing. The idea of attending a high-profile event also intrigued me, offering a chance to network and potentially distract myself from the chaos of my personal life.
When I arrived home, I sifted through my wardrobe, searching for the perfect outfit. My fingers brushed against a deep emerald-green gown that I had bought for a special occasion but never had the chance to wear. The dress was made of luxurious silk that flowed effortlessly, hugging my curves in all the right places. It featured a plunging neckline adorned with delicate lace, and the back was an intricate web of crisscrossing straps that added a touch of elegance. The gown cascaded to the floor, with a subtle train that would trail behind me gracefully. I paired it with silver stiletto heels, a matching clutch, and simple diamond earrings that caught the light just right.
Standing in front of the mirror, I took a moment to appreciate the transformation. The emerald color brought out the warmth in my skin and made my eyes appear more vibrant. I applied a touch of makeup, opting for a smoky eye and a nude lip to balance the boldness of the dress. My hair was styled in loose waves, cascading down my back in soft curls.
With everything in place, I waited for Jimin, excitement bubbling within me. The anticipation of the event, combined with the potential of seeing Jimin, filled me with a sense of exhilaration I hadn't felt in a long time. As the minutes ticked by, I found myself glancing at the clock, my heart racing with each passing second.
Finally, I heard the sound of a car pulling up outside. I grabbed my clutch and made my way to the door, my heels clicking against the hardwood floor. As I stepped outside, the cool night air greeted me, sending a shiver down my spine. Jimin's car was parked at the curb, and I could see him waiting for me with a smile.
"Breeh, you look stunning," he said as I approached, his eyes shining with genuine admiration.
"Thank you, Jimin," I replied, feeling a blush creep up my cheeks. "You look great too."
He opened the car door for me, and I slid into the passenger seat, the scent of his cologne enveloping me. As we drove through the city, Jimin filled me in on the details of the event, his excitement palpable. I couldn't help but be swept up in his enthusiasm, my worries momentarily forgotten.
We chatted about various things, catching up on each other's lives. Jimin's genuine concern for me was evident, especially when he asked, "Did your family force you to come back to Korea?"
His concern caught me off guard, but it warmed my heart. There were people who genuinely cared about me. "No, they didn't force me," I said, trying to sound as comforting as possible. "I came back because I felt it was the right time. Besides, I missed everyone."
He nodded, his eyes filled with understanding. "I'm glad you're back, Breeh. I just want to make sure you're okay."
His words made me smile. It was reassuring to know that amidst all the chaos, there were people who had my back. We arrived at the event venue, and my eyes widened in awe. The building was grand, with tall columns and an intricate façade that spoke of luxury and opulence. The lights sparkled like diamonds, and a red carpet led to the entrance, where elegantly dressed guests were making their way inside.
Jimin stepped out of the car and walked around to open the door for me. I laughed at his chivalry, feeling a lightness in my heart. Linking my arm with his, we walked inside together, our steps in sync.
The interior was even more breathtaking. Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, casting a warm glow over the room. Tables were adorned with pristine white linens, and the air was filled with the soft hum of conversation and the clinking of glasses. As we made our way through the crowd, Jimin introduced me to several famous personalities. Each introduction was accompanied by a polite smile and a firm handshake, but I could feel their gazes linger on me.
I had always been aware of my physical beauty, but tonight, it felt like it was at its peak. Every glance sent butterflies fluttering in my stomach, a mix of excitement and nerves. Amidst the crowd, I suddenly caught a gaze that was unexpected.
It was none other than Jeon Jungkook to whom somehow I owe an apology. His eyes were fixed on me, and the intensity of his stare took my breath away. His gaze was a complex mix of affection and adoration, but there was something else there too-jealousy and anger, perhaps? But why?
Before I could dwell on it, I felt a gentle pull on my waist. Jimin's arm was around me, bringing me back to the conversation we were having. I tried to focus, but I could still feel Jungkook's gaze burning into my back. Was it possible I had misunderstood? Could it really be anger, or was there a reason for his jealousy?
Or maybe, just maybe, there was more to Jungkook's feelings than I had realized.
