Breeh's Pov

I stared at my reflection in the mirror, trying to steady my racing heart. Tonight was the celebration dinner where the date for Hae-in and Taehyung's wedding would be decided. My fingers trembled slightly as I adjusted the delicate silver necklace around my neck. My dress, a flowing, midnight-blue gown, hugged my figure perfectly, the soft fabric cascading down to the floor. My hair was styled in loose waves, framing my face softly, while a touch of makeup highlighted my eyes, making them seem even more intense.

As I looked at myself, I couldn't shake off the feeling of dread that had settled in my chest. This was more than just a family gathering; it was a chance to find out Taehyung's true intentions. If this was some twisted game to make me jealous, I wouldn't forgive him. But I had to be strong, for Hae-in's sake. She deserved happiness, and I couldn't let my suspicions ruin her joy.

As I made my way downstairs, the chatter of arriving guests filled the house. I spotted my parents and joined them, trying to ignore the cold formality in my mother's tone as she complimented my appearance.

"You look lovely tonight, Breeh," my mother said with a forced smile.

"Thank you, Mom," I replied, my voice even. I tried to keep the conversation light, but the tension in the room was palpable.

My father's eyes sparkled with happiness as he spoke about the upcoming marriage. "We're so pleased with how things are turning out. Hae-in and Taehyung make a wonderful couple."

I nodded, trying to mask the turmoil brewing inside me. My attention drifted as Hae-in appeared at the top of the stairs. She looked radiant in a pastel pink chiffon dress, her excitement palpable. She greeted our parents with a warm hug, and I mustered a smile as I complimented her.

"Hae-in, you look beautiful," I said genuinely.

"Thank you, Breeh," she replied, pulling me into an embrace. But as she whispered in my ear, her voice was cold. "Stop pretending and don't you dare interfere in something you might regret later."

Her words struck me like a blow. I struggled to maintain my composure, feeling the sting of her bitterness. But before I could conclude to any reply. Taehyung and his family arrived. The sight of them brought back memories of their disapproving glares and harsh words from the past.I had almost forgotten how their presence could make me feel so small. Taehyung’s parents had never approved of me, and their judgmental eyes were a harsh reminder of that. My gaze locked with Taehyung's, and I couldn't help but notice how dashing he looked in his tailored suit. He walked straight to Hae-in, pressing a kiss to her cheek and whispering something that made her giggle.

Taehyung looked at me, his eyes flashing with something I couldn't quite read. "Breeh, it’s been a while," he said, his voice even but his smile a bit too polite.

"Yes, it has," I replied, trying to keep my tone neutral. "Congratulations on your upcoming marriage."

"Thanks," he said, his gaze shifting back to Hae-in. "We’re both really excited."

They looked too perfect together, and too staged.

Then I felt a knot form in my stomach as Taehyung's parents approached me.

"Hey, Breeh," Taehyung's father said with a smirk as he approached me. "Nice to see you again. How's life treating you? Must be quite the adjustment after leaving us."

I forced a polite smile. "It's going well, thank you."

"Really?" His mother chimed in, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "I heard you’ve been quite the success. Must be difficult to balance everything, especially after how you left things."

I felt my cheeks flush with embarrassment and anger. "I didn’t realize my departure would still be a topic of conversation."

"Well, it did affect us," Taehyung’s mother said, her eyes narrowing. "A little consideration for how it impacted others would have been appreciated.” My mind raced with regret for coming here, feeling vulnerable under their scrutiny.

But then suddenly, a strong arm wrapped around my waist, pulling me gently into a firm chest. My heart skipped a beat as I looked up to see Jungkook's reassuring smile.

"Hey, sorry I'm late," Jungkook said, his voice warm and comforting. "Got caught up in traffic."

His gaze locked onto mine, and for a moment, everything else faded away. "It's okay," I managed to reply, my voice barely above a whisper. The sincerity in his eyes made my heart flutter.

In that moment, I wanted to hug him, to let him know how much his support meant to me. I just hoped that this fake relationship wouldn’t complicate things further. But for now, I was grateful for his unexpected, yet timely, intervention. With Jungkook by my side, I felt a newfound strength.

And now I know that he cares for me because if he wouldn't he wouldn't be here tonight. I'm too guilty for involving him because this fake thing might effect his reputation as well as his, I can't afford that.... I'm so entangled.
