Mari
I woke up on the couch in Vicki and Jacobi's condo, with such a headache. It had to be about 11:00 AM, Jacobi was in the kitchen cooking which is why I woke up to the smells of bacon. Vicki came stumbling out of the room with her eye mask still partly over her eyes. She was drunk last night too and the light that filled the condo was our kryptonite.
"Why is it so fucking bright in here?" Vicki walked into the living room and plopped down on the end of the couch, sitting on my feet. I immediately pulled them up towards me.
"Because, it's morning." Jacobi quipped. "Y'all been out for a minute. I decided to get some food going for y'all because I know y'all need something on your stomach."
"Thank you, my stomach feels like it's touching my back!" I groaned as I slowly sat up on the couch with my stomach growling loudly.
"That was one helluva party last night." Vicki yawned, spawning me to do the same.
"Yeah it was, we couldn't have planned that better if we tried."
"That shit was turnt the fuck up!" Jacobi chimed in from the kitchen.
"Yes it was, but I'mma need you to stop yelling." Vicki held her head and pulled down her eye mask, covering her eyes.
"You believe all that shit that went down though? I didn't expect Father to show up."
"I don't know why not? You know he loves being the center of attention. But what I didn't expect is for Michael to knock him the fuck out!"
"That shit right there, was hilarious." I laughed.
"Y'all family knows how to throw a fucking party, for real 'yo." Jacobi came into the living room with two plates of food, filled with scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and grits.
"Damn Jacobi, you threw down! Thank you." I took my plate and started slowly on the eggs.
"Thank you baby," Vicki removed her mask and took her plate and a kiss from Jacobi as well. " 'Preciate you."
"I know you do." He smiled and returned with two glasses of orange juice. He grabbed his plate and sat down in the lazy boy and flipped on the television.
"Do you think your Father will remember what went down?" Jacobi stuffed a piece of bacon in his mouth waiting for our reply.
"I'm sure he will, but I'm sure he won't admit to anything." I mumbled with food in my mouth.
"Right. Let him tell it, last night didn't happen at all."
"Exactly and he fell down the stairs after having too much to drink."
"Right!" Vicki laughed and I gave her a high-five.
My phone started buzzing on the table. I had received a text message from Janelle, my publisher.
[Mari, Just wanted to be the first to tell you before you read your email. The company has decided to extend your contract with a bonus and publish your book in 15 different languages. Congratulations! You wrote a hit! Get ready for the ride! Call me later, Janelle]
"Aww shit! My book contract has been extended with a bonus. And they are gonna publish my book in different languages!"
"Awesome, we should get a good ass wedding gift then, huh?" Vicki joked.
"You know I got you!" This book turned out to be better than I thought. "How about a cruise?"
"Really, Mari? That would be awesome!"
"Of course, my treat." I was happy that I could give them an extravagant wedding gift.
We sat and ate our breakfast before it got cold, watching the afternoon news. Madeline Rutherford was in the news again, this time without Father. Apparently, she had Natalia De La Cruz as her spokeswoman for her hair care product line. She was beautiful and she had the hair for the product for sure.
