Randall
I thought as I drove down the driveway to my home, that I hadn't been home in a while. I had been dealing with Fabian and Dion directly after. I had been away from the house for at least 3 to 4 days. I walked into the quiet house expecting the kids to come running, however that was not the case. It was a bit eerie as I walked through the house, wondering where everyone was, especially Marianna.
After walking through the rest of the house, I figured everyone must have been outside due to the house being empty. As I turned the corner to the kitchen, I saw Marianna and the kids outside at the pool. I smiled as I watched them through the window. The kids splashed in the water as Marianna sunbathed in the lounge chair. I slowly opened the sliding door and walked out to the poolside.
"Daddy!" My daughter screams. Her excitement boiled over to the older boy child when he saw me.
"Dad! Come join us, Please?" He asked. His younger brother jumps off the side and into the pool, splashing his brother and sister.
"Daddy, come in please? You said you would before." The girl child always had a way of winning my heart over.
"Ok sweetheart, I need to change my clothes first."
"Hurry up Dad! I wanna show you a big splash!" Out of all three, the younger boy child was the most rambunctious. I watched as he climbed out of the pool only to run around to cannonball back into the deep end of the pool.
"Are you home today?" Marianna asked without moving or caring.
"Yes."
"Good."
"How are you?" I asked, sitting down on the lounge chair next to her.
"I'm good, I should be asking you how you are?"
"I'm doing, I'm here." I answered. I looked at Marianna and she didn't acknowledge me which meant she was upset. She was probably still fuming about our last argument. "I'm going to change my clothes." I stood up to leave.
"Don't forget to shower." She quipped. I stopped and looked at her, she didn't acknowledge me at all. I didn't have the urge to kiss her 'hello' or tell her I missed her, because I didn't. Things were changing between us, I felt it coming.
I stepped out of the shower, looking in the mirror at the love bites from Fabian and Dion, in no particular order. Dion loves to lay 'claim' on me, yet I think Fabian's were the result of total pleasure. I was smiling while I reminisced in my head the moments we were together, envisioning our stolen moments together.
"Who makes you smile like that Randall, because I know it's not me." Marianna's voice rattled my thoughts, turning my smile upside down.
Apparently, she had caught wind of something, but I needed to know exactly what she knew before I gave her any morsel to chew on. She could be fishing just to get a rise out of me for me to spill something she knew nothing about.
"What do you mean?" I looked at her reflection in the mirror, refusing to turn around and face her directly. I didn't want her to see the guilt in my eyes.
"Did you see Jeffrey?" She asked confidently. I smirked and shook my head.
"No, why would I see him?" I looked at her through the mirror. She was not fazed as she watched me intensely.
"Well, I thought, you may have missed him and you went to visit." She smiled an impish grin.
What game was she playing?
