The Blofis family and Sapphire slept well that night, and all woke up around surprisingly the same time. Josh had woken up before Sapph, who was a real sleepyhead this morning. Quite literally. Joshua noticed that Sapphire fell into pieces when they slept, and on occasion, their body and its parts would have a mind of their own. Sometimes Josh would wake up to find one of their arms lying on his belly, especially if they were turned over on the opposite side.

This morning, Sapphire had fallen into several pieces. Their legless body, missing its left hand, tried to sit up, while their head continued to softly snore on the pillow, and their separate legs and hand lay limp under the covers. Josh stifled a few chuckles, and gently rubbed the back of Sapphire's torso, which relaxed. Then Sapphire's head slowly blinked their eyes open. Joshua smiled and picked it up under the cheeks. He held it up about a foot from his face, and Sapphire's sleepy head smiled back at him.

"Hey sleepyhead," Joshua joked.

Sapph's head let out an exasperated laugh. "Josh," they sighed.

Josh cringed at his own joke, his eyes off to the side embarrassedly. "Ah, sorry."

"No, don't worry," Sapph's head reassured. "It — actually is kinda funny."

The two shared some soft laughs, then Sapphire's eyes drifted to the pieces of their body, and their cheeks flushed a bit as they looked back at Josh.

"Uh...help me get out of bed?" their head asked with an awkward smile.

Joshua's expression softened. "Awe, you know I will," he reassured. He kissed Sapphire's cheek, then popped their head back onto their neck.

Then Sapph pulled the covers off, and grabbed their stray hand, popping it back onto its wrist. Then they and Josh popped their legs back into place, and Sapphire was fully awake! They and Josh hopped out of bed, got dressed, and went downstairs to meet the rest. Beira and Tricia were already sitting at the breakfast table, where Alan and Luna brought a huge plate of pancakes, a bowl of strawberries and blueberries, and a small dish of pastries (one for everyone) from the kitchen.

Al looked up and saw Josh and Sapph, and smiled.

"You two sleep well?" he asked, and Luna, B and Trish turned to see them as well, greeting them with similar smiles.

"Yeah," Sapphire replied. "Sorry if we're a bit late. I was a sleepyhead this morning, literally."

That made everyone laugh; Sapph had shown Josh's family their special genie magic yesterday, so they all knew they'd get a few head related jokes out of it. Sapph didn't mind, and they laughed as well. Then they and Josh sat down as Al and Luna finished setting the food out. Then they sat down as well, and Luna immediately swiped a pancake and took a bite out.

"Mm, so good," she said dreamily through a full mouth, which made Alan chuckle.

Sapphire smiled, finding it endearing. Al seemed to notice, and leaned a bit closer to them. "It's her favorite thing to eat in the morning," he said. "We like to make 'em plain as much as we like PB and J on 'em."

"Oh yeah," Tricia agreed, taking another pancake off.

Beira nodded in agreement with excited eyes, spooning a few berries onto his plate. Josh and Sapph took some pancakes as well, and the family enjoyed breakfast together. Sapphire found it quite sweet, the way this family knew each other, but in what seemed deeper than just a normal family way. Sapphire felt lucky to be welcomed into such a special family, but they still wanted to know it better, to feel more like a part of it.

Once breakfast was over, Alan cleared his throat and held a fist up to his muzzle as if holding a microphone.

"Everyone, may I have your attention please?" he asked in an announcer's voice.
