A/N: CW for ever so slightly suggestive (in one sentence), pregnancy, (one) mention of blood (as a word)
The only change that had come to the house was remodeling the upstairs bathroom with new tiles. Otherwise, it hadn't changed much. Josh and Sapph, on the other hand, had both grown a lot since the wedding. Sapphire had decided to take classes at the local community college, and get a better job, and Joshua was behind them all the way. Sapph had also decided to take a summer semester after their first year, which meant they were going to graduate this summer! That was exciting.
The graduation ceremony was sooner upon the two than they realized, and they stood outside the school building with other students, where Josh brushed Sapph's gown, and adjusted their cap. He noticed that Sapph didn't look too well, as if their stomach was aching slightly. He bent his knees a bit to be eye level with them.
"You okay Love?" he asked gently.
Sapphire exhaled. "I'm just nervous....Well, nervous probably isn't the right word. I guess I'm just — stunned. That I made it this far. I didn't expect to graduate in three years, especially with low education experience."
Joshua smiled softly, and gently wrapped his arms around Sapphire. They gently hugged him back, and Josh felt their chest slowly heaving. He took a moment to think of just the right things to say (as he normally did, being autistic). The two pulled back, and Josh looked right into Sapph's eyes.
"Hey, Sapphire, I'm proud of you," he said honestly, his eyes sparkling. "I'm proud of you for stepping out of your comfort zone, and going to school, choosing classes, all of this on your own! And I'm proud of you for everything you've done. Experienced the world, got a job, you're amazing! You've done all of this without my help, and it's amazing to watch you grow in this way. I'm proud of how far you've come, and you should be too."
Sapphire's eyes began to sparkle with tears, and they hugged Joshua tightly. Josh hugged back with all the love he possibly could. Sapph let out a sound between a sob and a chuckle.
"No wonder you excelled in public speaking when you were in college," they laughed wetly.
Josh softly chuckled at that. "Thanks Babe."
Then he popped Sapph's head off their neck, and kissed them. Then he popped it back on, and the two parted into the building. Josh to the seats with his fam (he made sure to invite them), Sapph backstage.
The ceremony passed in a flash, but Josh made sure to get photos. Sapph walked up in line with the other students, got their diploma, turned their tassel and threw their cap with the other students as well. Josh had shared a passionate kiss with them once the ceremony was over, and the rest of the family and partners got photos as well.
Sapphire was very touched that Josh had invited them, and that they'd all decided to come. They all shared hugs, congratulated Sapph, and then they all went out to the same restaurant to celebrate. Josh thought it would be rather poetic if it was the first restaurant he'd taken Sapph to, and no one objected. There they all decided to catch up on each other's lives. Tricia and Em had tied the knot a couple years ago, Beira and Freya had started dating, and Al and Luna now had a summer home! There was a lot to catch up on.
